I need fiber!

I am about 4-5 weeks preggo and having serious bloating/constipation! I've read that this is normal and all but what can I do to relieve it? I feel so uncomfortable that I can't eat. I feel full all the time. When I am able to eat I stick to fiber rich foods with no relief. Is it safe to take fiber supplements while pregnant?

I need help! I look like i'm 5 months pregnant @ 4 weeks!

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the club girl!
LOL
I am always either constipated or I got the poo's!

I like to eat alot of heathy cereals to keep me somewhat as regular as I can.
Bran flakes and Raisin Bran help me the most when I'm constipated,
I also eat alot of Kix and Special K cereal cuz those my favorite cereals EVER and they're very good for you and your growing tummy! lol
Plain Rice Krispies, Cherio's, Chex... stuff like that is nice to eat.

Also, yall are prolly gunna laugh at me for saying this, but it really helps me sometimes with being gassy...
Lay down on your bed, get on your knees n put your butt in the air.
...air floats yknow, so its gunna float "up n out."
LOL

That might help with any bloating due to gas.

I'm in the same boat. It's AWFUL.  I dreaded going to the bathroom, until last week.  I started eating an Activia or this live-active Chocolate pudding I found and I mix the metamucil in with them so it doesn't taste like yuck! :)  Smooth sailing from then on out... Good luck.

ask your ob about metamucil. i was HORRIBLY constipated while pregnant and everything my docs prescribed did NOT help. i did eat activa and it helped a little bit, now i drink metamucil. it tastes gross but does the job.

Thanks for the suggestions. I didn't experience this with my first two pregnancies so I was pretty suprised to feel so bad so quickly. I pretty much lived on bran cereal for the first two, more out of craving than necessity. Unfortunately, I found out yesterday that for this pregnancy bran cereal = nausea.

Hi yes its perfectly normal.know exactly how you feel.the constipation is due to you having good progesterone levels, this in turn slows down your bowl movements.the only thing you can take is fiber this will help open the bowls. rather than supplements, take your normal prenatals, along with say bran flakes, cereal which is fiber based..i also found drinking pure orange juice help me to go.
