A little OT- vacations while pregnant?

I have a silly question today. Our family vacation is in June and every year we go to San Diego for a week. This year my dh wants to take a road trip instead to Utah. In June we'll have a 13 year old, an almost 2 year old and I'll be 24 weeks pregnant. He wants to drive 8 hours the first day and then spend the week driving around the state seeing the sights.

I'm worried about spending that much time in the car. I know it will be hard on our toddler and I dont' think it's going to be great for me either. It doesn't sound relaxing at all. Also with my son I had preterm labor start at 20 weeks, with my daughter it started around 24 or 26 weeks. I'm really nervous that I'll have problems while on vacation.

So do you think it's better to fly somewhere and stay for a week or take a family road trip?? Any feedback would be great! Thanks.

Just because of the pre-term stuff, I probably wouldn't go. I love road trips, and we have even taken a few with Jeremiah who is almost 3 and he does really well.
Have you talked to your doc about it at all? We really wanted to go away for 4 days next month to a place that's about 8 hours away, but we decided we would wait to go until the baby gets here. I'd rather deal with a newborn on vacation than worrying if I am going to go into labor or not.

I dont think u should go at all on what ive just read it sounds too risky, why do you not fancy a weekend at a caravan or something lol or wait until after the baby is born? I would on edge all the time and wouldnt be able to enjoy myself. Its totally up to yourself on how you feel about it gut instinct is always correct

Thanks I feel the same way, but also feel too guilty to tell my dh. He's so excited about not flying. Last year we had a horrible time with our flights because of all the baby gear and a cranky baby. He got into an argument after some woman who yelled at our 9 month old and slammed her seat back onto the baby. I thought he was going to get arrested on the plane.

Family road trip while pregnant? With a toddler? Sounds like a recipe for STRESS to me! Some people enjoy road trips but I don't happen to be one. I think flying to a destination and staying for a week OR enjoying a "staycation" at home in your own backyard is the way to go. Just my opinion.
