Abortion questions - personal beliefs

Hi ladies -

Just a reminder - MedHelp is primarily intended as a support site and does not cater to one particular viewpoint over the other.  Because of that, it is important to tread sensitively when posting about potentially heated issues such as abortion, even in journals.

Although everyone is welcome to have their own opinions, MedHelp's goal is to be a safe place for everyone, and therefore it it not appropriate to post things that could be construed as strongly judgmental or highly offensive to others.  You all have demonstrated a great deal of respect while talking to (and disagreeing with) one another. However, in going forward please keep in mind MedHelp's underlying intention of support (even to those who haven't been a part of recent conversations) and share your thoughts accordingly.

Please note that we are not a pro-life site, or a pro-choice one.  We ask that you not judge, or try and convince someone to not abort, just as you wouldn't try and convince someone to abort.  This is not an appropriate forum to advocate for your personal beliefs, whatever those are.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me or any of the other moderators.  We'd be happy to answer any questions or help!

Thank you for this Emily...you're the best.

Ladies as has been mentioned, abortion issues are a part of pregnancy issues, whether we like it or not, and the topic belongs here. Because a woman contemplating abortion is, in fact, a pregnant woman. So the topic is legitimate. Remember that you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. if you oppose abortion and see someone who is considering it, try changing their mind through support and love and education...not judgmental, rude comments that make them even more frightened and insecure.

Over my years here on MedHelp I have seen many women who were contemplating abortion CHANGE THEIR MINDS because they received SUPPORT and LOVE and ADVICE. I've also seen many women who were contemplating abortion disappear never to return and update because they were chased away by rude, judgmental comments. I wonder sometimes what became of the baby because people were too on their high horse to help that woman?

So next time you see someone contemplating abortion...reach out. She's probably hurting. And all women deserve our support, no matter what they choose, and if you want to change someone's mind you have a much better chance of doing it by being kind. Either way, remember that we're all human...and we're all in need of support sometimes.

Thanks gals,
Co-Community Leader Ashelen.

Hi there -

We don't have that forum because it's all a part of pregnancy for some women, and it can be addressed here.

Just remember to be supportive of women in this situation, as you would want others to be if it were you.

Thanks,

Emily

No I mean for pregnant women who are trying to decide to adopt, parent, or abort, not just raising a child.

I feel like since this topic is making such a big deal, personally I don't really care one way or another if another woman has an abortion, however, if this topic makes such a debate, why isn't there a forum for Parenting, Adoption, or Abortion? Like where women can go that are up in the air about their choices and want to talk to women who have been there or are there, and what they decided etc. I think sometimes all of us don't have a filter, it's human nature, unfortunately some more than others!

I completely agree with mommyTobe_12. People that post questions arent usually asking to be judged. They are asking for outside perspective, support, understanding, and maybe advice from people who have been in similar situations. If you cant be neutral and have to make negative comments then just keep them to yourself. We arent here to judge. And unless we live their lives and walk in their shoes...we have no right to make comments about their life

I look at it as, it you can't give your opinion or advice regardless of the topic without passing judgement , then you just shouldn't bother commenting. as mrssandefur said, some people don't kno how to express opinions without judgement.

So should we ignore posts that ask for our opinion on abortion?

I think opinions are exactly what that girl was asking for, she didn't want judgment and there were a couple of comments that were uncalled for ESP one. I don't agree with abortion for any reason UNLESS its detrimental to the mothers health and life. People just don't know how to express opinions rather then judgment.  I don't judge either way, just because I don't believe in it or think its right doesn't mean I should go and judge people over it.

But is it ok to give our opinion on abortion (as long as we make it known its our opinion and we aren't bashing any decisions that are made) when someone asks for opinions..like the ''pregnancy or abortion'' posts?
