DUE DATES ARE CLOSE!!!!!!!!!

Okay so most of you know that my sister just found out she is also pregnant.....wow what a surprise!!!!!! we took her to the ob Friday and they set her first u/s the same day as mine (1 hour later)!!!!!!!! and then she told me they set her due date for OCTOBER 20TH, 2009!!!!!!!!!! only 3 days after mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.........according to the doctors she is only 5 weeks & 4 days so they cant figure out why she's leaking this early and can feel movement!!!!!!!!!!! i am a lil nerve wracked about the whole being preggo together because my younger bro & her are the picks in the family and im pretty sure my mom has already chosen her!!!!!!!!!!!!! baby sitting her kids, taking her to the store whenever she needs to go, etc. and not to mention she has not kept my son one time since he was born & he is almost 3!!!! kinda makes me feel differently about this pregnancy!!!!! my mom has already set the date of our "DOUBLE BABY SHOWER" but i don't think i want that...i don't want to sound selfish but at my own shower with DS there was a total of 8 people there...i got 3 gifts and they all chipped in and bought something for my niece who was born just 2 months earlier.......my sis opted to not have a shower but yet they think my shower was the time to get her something....was i wrong for being selfish???? maybe im a lil to upset/paranoid about the whole thing...i dun know????!!!!!!!!

Oh wow...so you and your sister are VERY close!! WOW, Did they think she was 16 weeks just because she was leaking? That's amazing though!!
Honestly, I would never want a double shower, even if it was my sister. I think being pregnant is something so special and you should be able to enjoy a baby shower just for you. (Maybe I am selfish too) I mean it's a special day, I wouldn't want to have a double wedding....just my thinking. It's about you and the baby and it should be special and memorable and not at all stressful. That's the last thing you need.

My sister is due 6 days after me and there is no way either one of us would want a double shower!!  PLus I want mine before the baby and she wants her after so it wouldnt happen. I dont blame you at all. I think its your special time and you deserve your own shower. I was at first upset she was pregnant so close to me!! but I got over it, its my first and her 2nd so its ok. Its exciting and upsetting and I understand, its cool to have someone to talk to about whats going on but also annoying that you have to share the limelight!!

I can understand why wou would not want a double baby shower. These things are so special so I can underestand why you would want it to be seperate. How does your SIL feel about it? Another point is that people wont want to or should they feel it necessary to buy you both something, and I am sure that you have different friends. You would get less if it was combined. I would most def stress your concerns to you family and talk to your SIL. You are not overreacting!

I'd insist on my own shower.

Do you have close friends or coworkers who would throw you a shower? I agree with you that a double shower does not sound ideal...
Sorry that you have to share your special time.  It is SO dificult when there is favoritism in a family! = (
