At least if it is popular the school teachers will be able to pronounce it and she won't have to constantly correct them like my daughter Cadence does. She gets so mad some times as do I, everybody calls her Candance.
Who cares about how popular it is if you like it. I knew a couple girls that Id never heard the name before here are a few.
Olivia
Tia
Sophia- more common now
Leslie
Ella- coudl also be short for Isabella.
There are a couple people I know who also went with a name that they had never heard and it turned out that their kid was one of a handfull in the same class. Ya never know, go with what you like.
Congradulations!
I like different names, but I like Mumita's Annabella, that's cute, I also like Bella. But if you want any of the names I like for girls I like Kennedy, Karsyn, Rowan, ummmm Reagan is cute too. Just some thoughts, but If I were you name her what YOU want. You don't want to name her something different and then years from now wish you named her your favorite name, just because it was popular. Go for it!
I too am planning on using Isabella if we find out we are having a girl. I have heard a lot of hub-bub about it being on the top list; and how it is going to be so popular etc...So that being said I know where you are coming from. It is hard when you like a name and everyone else has the same name or it's a top name. (My daughter just had a sleep over and her friends name was Isabella called her Bella). It kind of threw me for a loop.
Good luck in your decision, just remember it's your baby and you can name her whatever you like!
I think it is near impossible to find a truly unique name these days unless you make it up. I like the name Isabella and Bella but I also think Mumitas idea of Anabella is a great one. Or how about Marabella, we have a Marabella in the family and I think it is beautiful.
We are having a girl in April and we are naming her Isabelle.
I haven't heard of the name being on the list, but I'm not doing it because it's popular we just really loved the name from the day we met. It is the Spanish version of my moms name Elizabeth, and her middle name is Kay after DH's mom. I LOVE the name Isabella, but it doesn't flow well with her middle name, so we just made it Isabelle.
Do what you want, and name her what you like. Don't do it because it's popular, or because it's not popular. There are a million lists, and they are all different. Just name her something you love, and can live with.
I teach in a school and we don't have a single Isabella out of hundreds of children...If you like it, go with it. I also like Mumita and Joy's suggestions. If I were having a girl, and dh gave me free choice, I like Kennedy, Madison, Raegan, Morgan...
Oh and no matter what you choose someone else is going to have the same name. When I had my oldest daughter I never EVER heard the name Elaina (spelled Alana, Elena, etc.). But I hear it everywhere I go now.
And when I named my 2nd daughter I had NO CLUE what the top 20 names were. I just named her what I wanted to name her. It ends up that her name is #8 on the list (Abigail).
ignore statistics i say and go what you want i am still deciding on 3 names for my lil girl and every single one of them are getting more and more popular every year but i like them mine are: EMMA, AVA, MADISON all popular these days but if that's the name you were dead set on then i say GO WITH IT.
Wow, I never hear that name anywhere! So it's surprising to hear it is #3. Did you look at the government's webpage or a baby name site? Check out http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/
Why don't you just name her Bella? Bella is a name I never ever hear and it sounds like you really like that for a nickname anyway.
I couldn't name my baby a name from the top 20 names in the country regardless how much I like it. I had 4 Laura's in my classroom growing up, 2 Melissa's and it got confusing.
Isabel/Isabella is a beautiful same unfortunately I know about 6 of them all under the age of 5. Do you like Latin names? There are beautiful latin names like Cecilia, Sofia, Anabella, Clarisa, Frances, Beatrice, Carolina, Celeste, Selina, Clara, Carla....
I think Anabella is close enough to Isabella and its nowhere close to the top 20 names.
go with the name you want, you're the one who's carrying her so you'll know her name.
Ignore the statistics - I didn't think it was that common of a name... Go with what you want.
