Bodyy after baby, Help!!!

When will my belly go back to the way it was before labor. It seemed to be getting smaller at first now it seems to be stuck like my uterus stopped shrinking. This may be dumb but I have no clue what is going on.

Yeah I am breastfeeding and the weight loss has stalled. But I just bought me a postpartum girdle and I can't wait for it to get here so I can start wearing it.

Even though I breastfed, I didn't lose the weight as fast as I thought I would...also...I know when you breastfeed, your uterus contracts to get back down to the right size...but I never felt any pain while BF. Very strange. Why would that happen? But my mom BF and was in agony for days from it!  I really want to get one of those supports this time...I will have to look around and find one. I hear they work wonders as well!

Star-Breastfeeding is proven to contract your uterus back down to size, it's a little painful the first few days but then the cramping is minimal.

I hear from many women who swear by breastfeeding. It makes your tummy go down much sooner then not breastfeeding.. That is my plan lol.

Thanks GRose, 20 is better then nothing. I think I'm going to start taking walks to and stop eating two or three huge meals and start eating 4 or 5 small meals.
Thanks ladies for sharing your stories.

I had to get a whole new wardrobe................ im ok with it, i personally think a weight of 115 was not too healthy looking..(stick-like).......... so im happy with the way i am now, at 140 =)

Tasia- Honestly, I dont know, I just weighed myself one day, 3 weeks post pardum and I was like "holy ****, I lost 33lbs!!!" lol I think it has a lot to do with constantly running after NOah and not having time to eat, I seriously have to remind myself to sit down and eat so I get some nutrients in for Evan. I just eat a few small meals a day. Since Joe and I share a car I have to walk if I want to go anywhere, I have been going for walks almost everyday, nothing to bring on a big sweat or anything but that double stroller is heavy.
It didn't come off this fast with NOah, I think it has to do with the fact that I had him at Christmas time, all those cookies didn't help.

20 pounds is a really good accomplishment Tasia!!!

There are many different post partum supports, Mumita probably got hers from the hos[ital as it is standard issue for most c-sections these days.

Medela makes one they sell at babiesrus
OneHotMama makes the Belly Bandit available at some stores and Amazon...I bought two of these, the bamboo one is REALLY nice
Brook Burke the 'model/actress' makes one called Tauts available at her website (baboosh baby I think)

Mine went down within 2 1/2 mo after having my son however I put on very little weight, 15 lbs and due to stress with my son being very sick most of his first 6 months of life I lost my baby weight and probably an additional 10-15 lbs.

Joyrenee definitely indulge during the holiday. I would start excercising too though.

Mumita- you are so lucky girl it most be in your genes to bounce back so quickly.

GRose- Wow you are doing better then I am in the losing weight area I gained about 50 lbs as well and I lost only 20 lbs I have been stuck at 164 for awhile now. What are you doing to lose the weight without excercising?

Mumita-I wanted to get one of those so badly but they were more than I was willing to pay since I didn't know if it would work.
I am only 14 pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight (gained fifty) but I know from past experience and my genes that the skin will never go back. The more weight I loose, the more the skin hangs.

I may be one of the lucky ones but I had a c-section last week and I am already really close to my pre pregnancy weight.
I have been breastfeeding exclusively and I've been wearing a girdle which helps a lot to put things back in place.  I strongly recommend the post partum girdle.

Me too! LOL! But I have a ways to go before I'm to the point I can exercise. Need to finish baking this baby and get the OKAY post-partum.

The stinky part is that I'll probably be able to start exercising around Thanksgiving! AHHHHHH! It's okay to indulge during a holiday, right?!

KM604- yeah I look about 4 or 5 months pregnant right now. Hopefully the doctor will give me the ok to start working out at my postpartum appointment.

Joyrenee-  Yeah I knew my belly was partly because of my abs needs to be worked out. I can't wait to start working out.

Your uterus most likely is back to it's old self. It's your stomach that has been stretched out (the skin). Not only that but you need to build up your abdominal muscles. Working out is the only way to get that stubborn belly back in shape!

I'm 6 months post partum and starting to get back to normal.  For a while I still looked about 4 months pregnant.  I've been wokring out for the past 2 months, haven't lost any weight but lost inches because clothes fit me different.  I just have a little pouch that won't go away - plus 10 more lbs to get back to my pre-pregnancy size.  Some women are blessed to have it all off and look like they never had a baby one month after, others are stuck with the extra baggage for a bit!  I'm determined to not have this weight on me by the time my daughter is 1, that is my realistic goal.

Chantal- well that makes me feel a bit better about my belly. Guess I need to eat a little better though to at least lose the weight.
GRose- Oh no I don't want extra skin especially since I plan on having more! But I guess it is the price I have to pay for having a huge baby!

It takes almost 10 months to grow a baby....so it will take some time to get back to where you were. It wasn't until 4-5 months after giving birth that things starting fitting better and my belly was really shrinking. 8-9 months after delivery I was back to normal, well just about, you are never exactly the same once you give birth. But then I got pregnant again and didn't get to enjoy that very long! lol. but it's okay! =) It just takes time and a good work out routine and good eating. don't worry, you will get back there!! =)
