When to give "big brother" present

We bought our son a "big brother" present, it's a big hot wheels track with 18 cars that he was begging me for, so I snuck back and bought it for him to give as his big brother present. I originally was planning on giving it to him the first time he met his baby sister, but my husband and mother are both saying nooo wait til you get home, but that's the whole point of the present!! To get from his baby sister the first time he meets her. I get he's going to want to play with it right away, so I figured on Monday after my c-section I'll have him visit with his sister and then before he gets ready to leave the hospital with my mom to stay with her, I'd let him open it then, so he'd be on his way home to open it and have something to play with at my moms while I'm in the hospital. What do you ladies think? Give it to him in the hospital or wait til we get home, 3 days later?

Thanks ladies, I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks the hospital is the best time to do it!! That's the whole point in the darn present! I just have quite a list of things to bring, carseat, hospital bag, diaper bag, breastfeeding pillow, and now a giant present, haha! OH well!!

We are planning to give our son his big brother present from baby brother when he gets to come to the hospital. I think it will help, like a peace offering. Ha, at least I hope! That, and I wonder if it will be hard on him to see mommy at the hospital, and not having me home with him for a couple days. At least that will help him have something new and fun to take his mind off of that too.

I think I want to give it to him in the hospital too, I'm honestly not sure how he'll react to her, he's a little put off by babies, he thinks they're cute and likes to look at them, but I highly doubt he'll be in her face trying to touch her a lot haha! He cried a few weeks ago because he was holding a baby and she started screaaaaming while he was holding her, and he thought she was yelling at him! Should be interesting!

I would say in the hospital, that way he will associate the baby with his new gift and have something to do while he's with grandma.  If you wait til you get home he might want you to play too and that would be tough sitting on the floor after a c-section I would guess!

Personally I always thought the big brother gift was given like you said the first time meeting his little sister. But I guess everyone is different. I think it would be a good Idea, that way he has something to do to ocuppy him until you guys are home. On another hand, is he the type that once you get home he will want to "play" and touch and be by your side all the time, maybe you would want to wait until you get home so you have a few days to get the hang of things with two children, exspecially a newborn. Sorry not sure if that was any help.

In the hospital. I'd say its from baby Khloe and give it to him when they meet. But then again when you bring her home he might feel kinda weird. Lexi wasn't sure of Aidyn at first.
