also make sure you have a good support that you can rely on to help you when you feel like giving up because like i said it is challenging. there where times when i felt like formula would be so much easier but really it is not easier. babies also cluster feed soon after birth which helps your milk come in...your nipples will probably be soooo sore and that also makes you want to give up but dont =] your colostrum helps heal them if you rub it in sorry so long again any questions message me

actually thats not necessarily true...you do not produce milk until a few days to a week after birth. i have had three kids. colostrum and breast milk are two completely different things. you do not let down after birth or having contractions at all..let down is something that happens when your milk comes in =] My baby is 4 weeks old. I have breastfed exclusively. all i can tell you is breastfeeding is NOT EASY what so ever! do not let people tell you that it is a piece of cake..what i can tell you is that it is the best experience and bond you will ever have with your baby..it is rough at first but there are classes you can take and at the hospital they will have a lactation consultant you can talk to before and after baby is born and i highly reccomend that you do. ask tons of questions and read about it also if you have friends or family that have breastfed talk to them.  colostrum is plenty enough for baby even tho it doesnt seem so...it is filled with vitamins and nutrients perfect for baby until your milk comes in. do not feel forced to supplement with formula...as long as baby has enough wet and dirty diapers he or she is getting plenty...so dont assume you have a low supply..your body doesnt establish a full supply until at least 6 weeks of breastfeeding =] sorry so long

Your milk can come in at any point, really. My friend started leaking when she was around 18 weeks, but you also may not start until you have your baby. If you go in the baby isle at any store they'll have the pads for your bra, you can buy reusable (theyre cloth and you can wash them) or disposable. If you do start leaking, it may be a good idea to bring an extra set or two with you when you go to work just in case.
Also, the first comment is false. When you start having contractions, your body releases a hormone that tells your "girls" that its time to go. You'll experiance your first let down when the baby is born (let down is your first real supply of milk. Enough to feed baby). Some women can have some supply issues (which are VERY easy to solve) and have to supplement with formula but this is not usually the case. Also, you should avoid bottles & pacifiers for the first 6-8 weeks so you dont have any issues with nipple confusion. If you have any questions feel free to message me. I plan on breast feeding so I'm CONSTANTLY reading up on it, lol

You can start breastfeeding right away.  In fact the sooner you do, the better your milk supply will be. Colostrum will give baby all the nutrients it needs until your actual milk comes in.

Colostrum is still food for the baby.  Milk develops a few days after birth.

A few days to a week after birth. If you leak now its colostrum and not everyone leaks.
