I'm Portuguese and my boyfriend is puerto rican, well both be speaking english to our son but me and my family will be using portuguese and he will be speaking Spanish sometimes :-) I think it'll be a bit confusing at first, since the two sound so similar, but we're hoping it goes ok and doesn't confuse him too much !
No, but I wish I could. I'm full-blooded Mexican-American but I never learned Spanish, and boy do I wish my parents had taught it to me, for job marketability as well as because I think it expands your world. My baby's father is black, and doesn't speak a foreign language.
Kids are amazing though; I was in Toronto one time and heard a three-year-old talking to his parents. To one he spoke clear and fluent French, to the other clear and fluent English, both effortlessly. I might hire a Spanish tutor for my pipsqueak and myself, to see if I can at least try to get some of it back for her.
French (me) and English (DH) my baby will speak. And Spanish too, from my sisters. And we could add Dutch if baby can handle more, or 2 or 3 other African languages from my extended family... I have no doubt it will be lots of fun :)
Im mexican n all of my kids speak both english n spanish dad does really use his englis n well i just speak both. My mom speaks only spanish to them but they speak perfect english n spanis even spanglis lol sumtimes its funny bc when talkin to mom or other fam members that dont use english a lot they will have a hard time with some words but we help them a lot my first grader already know how to read write n speak perfect spanish. N in english he is exeeding his reading level... So proud of him !!!
English, Spanish, and Apache. Both my husband and I have Native American parents and the other Hispanic. We grew up more around native American culture and so will our girls.
I think it will be easy for ouemr children to learn more languages because from an early age when they first learn to talk itll cone to them much easier!! My husband has a child in gyatemala and we despiertly wanna bring her here so she can learn engkish(shes only 3) and she can go though school and will be fluent in both engkush and spanish..the only problem is her mom doesnt wanna give her up ( she gets all the money she needs from my husband to take care of the little girl) but it hurts me sonetimes to see my husband so upset because he hasnt seen his daughter in over 2 years and I would love to have her here as part of our family!!!
My husband is Spanish and fluent in it as well, when I have to go back to work our baby will be staying with his Auntie, who speaks mostly Spanish, so our baby will, hopefully, be fluent as he grows. I am trying to learn what I can now, and trying to teach our 8 year old, too.
My secret for learning spanish...was listening to others speakibg spanish 24/7...especially while I was in mexico for a year...
Iam Mexican-american born here in us....I speak fluently English an Spanish sooo ill be speaking both languages to my baby

My husband is from India so he will learn Hindi along with a few other laungages spoken in India and of course English.
I'm American and my husband is Puerto Rican and even though I can't speak fluent Spanish I want my husbands family to teach our baby girl Spanish. Not only will it benefit her but I want her to learn about both cultures but especially the Spanish culture since she'll be living in America.
Im native american (navajo).and my fiances apache. We both speak english and I try to teach my son some navajo. So far so good :) my fiance doesnt know apache, its a shame cuz I wish he did.
I'm Chinese and husband is american by Spanish descent. So we're hoping to included all three languages early on. We will have to send the kid to Chinese class on Sunday down the line and luckily we live in a city with a good amount of Chinese people. The issue is which Chinese to learn, I speak 3 different dialects and different group of my family speaks different one. And husband's family was from Cuba with Spanish and French in the family tree. So he want the baby to learn either the Cuban or Spain Spanish, which I was told is a little difference from the Mexican Spanish. But most of our local Spanish speaking friends are Mexican. So ya, it's going to fun trying to figure everything out. Lol.
I speak both English and Spanish fluently, but hubby only speaks spanish. My oldest daughter barely learned spanish about 2-3 years ago, but my youngest (19 mnths) understands and tries speaking both languages. They will adapt to both languages and when they enter school, they will be able to speak both :)
Helenk......its horrible how spanish has so many diff ways to speak it....i can clearly understand somone from mexico and central america....but when someone from cuba is speaking im always like wait..slow down lol and from spain...sometimes its a little difficult for me but not so much because I had a teacher that was from spain
I'm American and my boyfriend is African. His family only speaks yoruba while we communicate in English. I want my daughter to learn their language but I'm afraid she'll have an accent like his family and I won't be able to understand her... I can barely understand them because the accent is so strong
Well with her first language being english she probably wont have as much of an accent as them
I am American and my boyfriend is Samoan he is planning on teaching our baby Samoan :) I don't know it though so he can't speak it all the time our child will know both
I'm white and my husband is mexican so the baby will grow up speaking both languages
My husband is Puerto rican and I'm white. Our baby will definitely learn Spanish also bc some of my husband relatives don't speak English.
I am maori my partner Australian. My family speak maori alot but thank god they are in New Zealand and we are in Australia. My 5 yr old says certain Maori words but I wasnt brought up around it so wont matter if he isnt.
Im actually Puerto Rican and Lebanese. My husband is Palestinian. We both our fluent in pur native language plus I also am taking college courses to become fluent in French. I am 75% fluent. So our baby will learn Arabic, English, French, and Spanish:-) very unique.
