Someone Please Help...Im losing my mind!

So Conner is 5 weeks old now, and I have been having issues from day 1. We started him on Enfamil Prosobee which caused him to be extremely colicy, so we switched to Enfamil Nutramigen. The Nutramigen started giving him really bad Diarreah for 2 weeks, and then constant crying, gas, and spitting up. My doc said it was possibly GERD or Acid reflux. So he switched the formula again to Enfamil Gentlease.....And he is worse even still. He is still spitting up constantly. Lastnight was h e l l. Conner was up every 20-30 min screaming bloody murder, but refused to eat. He would eventually cry himself to sleep to just wake back up another 20-30 min later...he did this all night until 9am when I made hubby get up and take over for day shift. Hubby said that Conner ate 8 ounces in an hour which is way to much....but wouldn't stop crying.

He has been having this blood curdling screaming for the past 5 hours, and I have no idea what to do. His poop is thicker, but now it's really green and smelly....like rotted milk. My doc wants to put him on an Acid Reflux medication...but im worried that it wont help.

I have tried everything to calm and soothe him....but to no avail. I have given him a warm soothing bath, rocked him, sang to him, put him on his tummy, elevated his mattress, rubbed his belly, used Mylecon drops, I have literally exhausted all the option I knew I had.

If ANYONE out there knows something else I can try PLEASE let me know. I know babies cry, I know babies spit up....but something is wrong with him.

it's great that it worked for you. I have been blessed to only have one or two bad colicky days from TJ. I know when he's had those days it just breaks my heart to hear those screams from him.

Everyone!

My doc called back and is giving me a prescription for the GERD...And my doc has officially saved my life! He told me to look up Dr. Harvey Karp and his book called the Happiest baby on the block. I found a few youtube videos on his techniques and he is a true miracle worker! Here are a few videos that I looked at....and seriously people lol I was able to soothe conner in less than 15 seconds and he was asleep soundly in less than 30 min...it really works and it uses the natural nurture techniques us mothers are used to using.

I am using a swaddle me swaddling blanket instead of a regular blanket to swaddle conner in...and it works just as well, but is easier to use.

I will be posting a new topic for these URL's because it is truely very helpful....and it works!

BTS~  I'd give him pedialite for a little while, and hold off on formula.  Like a few hours, just to see if that helps settle his stomach!  He probably needs to throw up!  Honestly, that helped my kids.  Unfortunately you can't make them throw up!  But the pedialite should help calm him a bit, because it's not milk but he'll stay hydrated!

Maybe convince hubby to walk him around for a little while, some fresh air if it's not too cold, change of scenery helps calm fussy babies....  Oh while walking kind of do a bit of a bouncy motion, if he will throw up this will help it come up to say the least, so maybe warn him to have a burp rag handy!

I'll keep thinking of what else I used to have to do...

Rosa- I won't use sugar water on my children for a number of reasons, mainly because of my family history of very poor tooth health and genetics. My mom fed me sugar water and here I am at 24 needing dentures. Even though a baby's teeth aren't in yet it can still cause issues with enamel production and teeth issues, so I won't use sugar water. I have tried Karo syrup, and other *home remedies* that haven't worked. Thank you for your advice though, I do really appreciate it.

Laura- I know Linzola has had simular issues with Julian, I have offered her my advice too, but when it come to your own child...it seems that our brains quit working lol. Im not even 100% convinced that Conner has GERD, I just feel that something is very wrong with his gastrointestinal tract, and I don't know what im supposed to do.....other than comfort him. But with my PPD I have to just let him cry it out sometimes while I go outside for a 10-15 min break or I will lose it lol.

Im waiting for my doc to call me back, but im super aggrivated because I know my baby is hurting I just don't know how to fix it.

Second, I have NO advice,   =(   but PM Linzola, she had very similar problems w/ Julian and I think she may be able to give some good advice. Keep us posted and I hope you and Conner are feeling better soon!
