Can you refuse induction?

So I am 38+6 my EDD is August 23rd... My last appointment is scheduled for August 21st. Anyway my doctor said if I don't go into labor by the time I have my last appointment we will schedule an induction for me. But I don't want to be induced is much rather go into labor naturally. So can I refuse to be induced? Obviously if I'm like 2 weeks over and nothing is happening and if becomes a medical concern then that's a different story but I'm sure I will go into labor before then!

Thanks everyone!! I've had a pretty easy pregnancy and I'm not really uncomfortable except occasional back pain and a but of cramping and I don't see the point in getting induced when I am totally fine being pregnant

Yes you can up until like 42 weeks which then they will let you know the risks of going further and highly suggest you with in 4 days of 42 weeks to be induced..I made them wait till the very last minute with my daughter and I will do the same with this one ...unless it medically necessary they cannot make you just make sure your doctor knows your birth plans so they can advise you on what you decide

Yes, you can. And stand up for yourself, this is your body, your baby. You need to do what you feel is right.

Yes you can. And good for you wanting baby to come on their own most women just take the induction when given the option.

Yes you can and I think it's awesome you want to! I think doctors today are just so used to people wanting to be induced early they just do it as the norm now.
