I too was afraid of labor stories when I was pregnant with my first. But I ended up having a successful natural childbirth. It is painful but I keep telling myself one step closer when my baby arrives to keep me from getting an epidural (I'm not big on needles or taking anything for pain). It was a wonderful experience my son was healthy and he was sooooo alert looking over at me and trying to lift his head up being all nosy. Doing milestones early. I was awesome. Don't make it out to be harder than what is seems. You can do it!

It's painful absolutely but it's nothing compared to what you are making it out to be in your head lol. They have medicine to help cope with the pain and even if you don't use those women have been doing this for a LONG time lol you'll get through it. Contractions are painful but it's really not as crazy as you think I swear!

I'm not gonna lie to you and say oh its a piece of cake. It does hurt! I went in with a mind set of agonizing pain and it wasn't that bad.. I was in "labor" for almost two months contractions every two minutes.. once you start dilating the pain increases because its not only contractions buy your cervix is opening. Personally the epidural was nothing. It was a pinch and pressure and then the pain was gone and I could relax. They made me get one because I was so exhausted they were afraid I wasn't going to be able to deliver. Everyone is different but I recommend epidural... Especially if your pain tolerance isn't very high like mine lol other than that I think your instincts kind of kick in and you just want that baby out after having it in there for so long that any pain really is worth it. Hope this helps :) xx

Honestly, if you go in there thinking about all of the terrible things you've heard about labor, you're going to think more dramatically than you should. Labor hurts, yes, and I'm sure you've heard "ohhh it's worth it!!" a thousand times, and I guess you can't explain it until after you've been through it, but it hurts, not NEARLY as bad as I thought it would, and I got to 8cm's without any kind of pain medicine, before they lost my sons H/B and I had to do an emergency c-section, since it was SO emergency, I was just put under, and only given very little pain medicine through my IV, so I woke up from a c-section with hardly any pain medicine, and even that didn't hurt all that bad. I'm not going to lie and say it doesn't hurt, but it's definitely doable! If you go in there with a positive outlook, really try to relax, because it really does relieve a LOT of pain, and breathe through your contracts, and only focus on breathing, you'll be just fine! And it really is worth it, once you have your newborn baby layed on your chest, your pain is going to be the last thing on your mind! Good luck!

Have you taken any classes yet? When you start having contractions... walk until you can't breathe and talk or if your water broke. Try remaining calm... I know it's easy said than done , but that's when your body kicks in and is telling you what to do. Listen to it. I'm almost 21 weeks ;) when's your due date?
