Daycare for your Newborn

I've been a stay at home mom since my first baby who will be three this year.  My hubby has a good job but money still is a bit tight & I need my own money. I'm thinking hard about working after this baby. By then ny kids will be, almost 3yrs, 1yr, & newborn.  I know daycares take in 6wk olds.. feels very young to me. What do think about your newborn going to daycare at 6wks??

I'm kind of in the opposite situation because my husband makes enough where I could stay home, but I love my job and want to go back to work. Also I think its very important for children to socialize with other children (not siblings) at a younger age.

You should let someone you know n trust to be a daycare provider you can do that by going thru welfare if your gonna be working

I wish I had that option smh, I have to go back to school and work after I have baby. So daycare is the only option

I wont use daycare, but I know people that do and their kids do well. The problem is, if you have 3 kids then daycare may cost more than your income, in which case being a sahm is more economical. Look into costs before you decide to get a job, may not be worth it.

I would never trust a day care with my child, not with how the world is today! So much sick and twisted stories on the news now! I only feel safe with mother in law keeping my sons!

Would stick to family if possible!

True. Maybe I should just finish up my nurding degree while a sahm & just start working when I'm a RN. By then my oldest will be in preschool, & my other two will be in daycare or a family member may be availiable to keep them during the day, who knows. I still need ways to make money while atb home though.

Very true... I'm NJ for full time daycare for a child in diapers it costs about $1100 a month... For our next child (which we are planning for 2-3 years down the road) we will be getting an au pair

I've never used the daycare, & as a stay at home mom it scares me. But, I have to do what I have to do.  I may wait until November to find a job.  Then baby will be 3 months my oldest will b 3 & the first few months my baby will be at home with me.

Eeeeehhhh I would drive them nuts calling every 5 minutes!  With my 1st I worked 2nd shift and my hubs worked 3rd wasnt great for us since we saw each other 10 mins 6 days a week but im thankful since it was always one of us with our son for the 1st yr. Now im looking at becoming a sahm for awhile n freaking out a lil. I would say put it off for few months if u can eespecially if u have to trust them with strangers besides that the cost of child care some places can be absolutely crazy so it may not be that worth it depending on job u find

My baby will be going to daycare at about 3-4 months, once I return to work. 6 weeks might be a little early if baby hasn't had their first shots yet. I've seen lots of young kids do well in daycare and the socialization is great for them. It'll be tough the first few days and maybe even the first week or so bit once they get used to it they love it.
