At 16wks we were struggling with my sons colic and he wasn't napping during the day or sleeping more then an hour at night so we saw a sleep specialist. She looked at his room and got us to make a few changes then wrote a program for him. We started sleep training the next day and within 2 days he was having huge naps and within the week was sleeping 12hrs at night. She said we can start from 10wks but don't have the same expectations, like a 2mth old will need more naps then a 4mths old and may only be able to go 6-8hrs over night before needing a feed. Need to consider the individual baby. Good luck!

Yeah, from what I understand in that first couple of months they are still learning night from day and its hard to get them to have the majority of their calories during the day so they don't wake as much at night. That's what I was told anyway but I'm sure there's lotsbof different strategies and techniques out there. From the start with this one we plan on using the same sleep time routine for each nap and at night so baby gets used to it, and keeping things quiet and dark during night time feeds and regular noise during day naps but we'll see what works for baby when it arrives, lol.
