Dialation Questions FTM

Do you bleed when you begin to dilate? Do you always lose your mucus plug right away? How do you know labor is near? I have been having contractions for the last week and I'm almost 39 weeks :o

I actually started bleeding brown blood Monday after my doctor checked my cervix. It wasn't much blood, mostly spotting. I went back in Wednesday because the spotting kept on. Got admitted to labor and delivery, and I dilated to 4cm and contractions about 1 minute apart. This took place all within an hour, and I'm holding my baby boy right now after a 7 hour labor. I would call and get checked with the bleeding because you could be in early labor.

I never lost my mucus plug, I just started having contractions really bad, went in and was dialated to a 6 so they kept me. My water broke while I was in the hospital but they never mentioned the mucos plug.

I haven't been bleeding, I have had some (tmi) brown discharge. My contractions are seeming to get worse.

Not everyone does. With my first i went into my 36 wk appt and was at a 1 and had no bleeding at all. So i think it depends on the person.
