I like
Marcelo Felipe
Jose Armando
Manuel Alejandro
Arturo
Miguel
Fernando
:)
The names don't have to be in Spanish but they have to be able to be pronounced in both languages. I know its hard. I don't mind if its a biblical name, I just don't want it to be too obviously religious like Jesus or Ezekiel or Isaac or David.
Roque is pronounced in spanish like Roh-Kay E is always pronounced like the E in Ernest, the u is silent if its after Q.
Italian is a Latin language so we share many many names and German well Germany and Spain were bound for hundreds of years because they shared a King or Queen so many german names abound in Spanish.
a few more:
Felipe- lover of horses
Gaspar- Treasurer
Roque- rock like (pronounced-row-ck)
Videl/Vidal-life
most of the names i found in my baby name book were religious names though or originated in italy or german...kinda weird!
Oooh, it does! I didn't even think of that!
Bluegenie- Jarek is cool, I like that, goes with Finley. Finley Jarek, has a ring to it.
Sarah- I asked my husband about Valentino because I really like it too, he said no.
Thanks tho.
Mumita- I know its not spanish, but my friend has a son named Jarek Killian that I think is really cute.
I also had a hispanic boy in my class named Misael...I love that one!
PJ466- My name is April, and I have to say I've never really been teased about it. I do get the occasional smartalec calling me June or May, or April showers bring May flowers", but its always been in fun :-)
How about Valentino? Nothing to do with the designer but i like the name. Or what about Anton? I like the first name better! Good luck with your baby- hope you have a healthy one :) Marcelo is pretty cool too!
Well no offense to any of you ladies that like these names or have named their child with those names but I think that the names that rhyme with "Aiden" meaning "Jayden, Caden, Brayden" are too popular right now and I just can't do it.
The thing is, we're not looking for a completely odd name, we are looking for a classic name, that sounds cool and its not used at all right now. For example our top 3 are:
Finley, Marcelo and Joon
I don't think that any of the 3 are weird names, they are just not popular but they are beautiful names.
Motherofan18month-
Antonny (or any of its variations) is my dad's middle name and he HATES it, plus its too common
Cruz- Means Cross in spanish as in the Jesus cross and we're not religious at all so that wont work
Serafin- I actually have a great uncle that his name is Serafin- which means some sort of angel, also religious, can't do it.
All of your suggestions are great keep them coming.
i like the name joon, & the spelling joone would make it look more masculine. my sis-in-law was happy to name her children joshawa jagger & diamond capri which i thought suited her children perfectly!
some unique names: (some spanish some not)
antonny
phillipe
ambrose
faigon
casimir
cruz
miguel
serafin
I like the name june it acctualy is a religious name short for Junious im not sure of any of the spelling but I knew a guy from miami who's name was june....or joon lol umm I also like the name Kaylex for a boy its really different.
When we pick out names we always think about what we like (guilty) but what we need to put into consideration is the children, if their friends will tease them or not. Hubby and I love the name April but my younger sister made us promise never to give our child that name as she will be teased, but we really love the name as that month has many memories for us as a couple.
just a few ideas
finley is a nice name
kayden
kylo
jayden
dylan
my friend called her girl passion destiny
Have you ever heard of the name Zann? I have a friend and it is her favorite boy name. It's her stepbrother's HOT friend's name. Anyway I think it's pretty different.
If I have a girl i'm totally naming her Juno.I love that name and the movie.I really like the name Kai!
Anita- Santiago is the name you are referring to, and yes Santiago is a very Spanish name and very beautiful. Santay is a totally different thing though.
Kupi- Silas is a great name but reminds me of the creepy monk in Da Vinci code. Its a biblical name and biblical names are big in Latin America.
I know it's not Spanish but I real.l like Silas (but my husband doesnt)
Well now I'm just determined to help you create a list of possible names to show your husband and hopefully you all can agree on one. So I think I'll go in alphabetical order choosing one name at a time until we get this taken care of LOL. I think all mothers should put this much effort into naming their child, it is a BIG deal after all.
Alonzo
Benjamin
Cruz
Dario, Dariel, or Damario
Eliseo (commonly nicknamed Cheo as u posted above)
more to come....
I know a spanish family with a baby named that. Its short for Son-tay-og-go.... i have no clue how its spelled. its just a pretty name.
Dariel!! Yes I've heard that name and its awesome!!! I'll put it on my list. You can never find that name on any list!
lol, was gonna say i liked diego but better not
Oooooh Dario gave me an idea...I have a friend named Dariel, I had never heard that name before until I met him and I absolutely love it!!! I pronounce it in spanish to get him upset because that's how his parents say it (they're hispanic) but all his friends say it in english so he's more used to that. Haha. Still trying to think of some for you. I'll get back to you though. I also really like Marcelo, sounds very refined and I can just imagine a little boy turning into a very handsome man with that name. LOL.
Thank you! That's more of what I'm talking about! :)
I'm from Puerto Rico and My husband is from US so I guess you understand the struggle on picking out a name. I just don't want my family to butcher an English name or my husband's family to butcher a Spanish name.
Please PM me if you have any more suggestions!!! I have to rule out Diego (my favorite name ever- my parents stole it for my little brother!) and Joel my FIL's name and its pronounced in English, I love the Spanish version tho.
My Spanish names that I love are:
Marcelo
Valentino
Aureliano
Dario
Cheo
Renzo
DIEGO (i'm still upset about it)
Javier (too common)
Caetano
The list goes on...
Elias
Diego
Tiago
Lionel or Leonel
Joel
Damian
***All easily pronounced in english & spanish***
Since I am hispanic, I know for a fact that most of these are sort of common but not as common as Jose, Juan, Raul, etc. My husband and I decided on Diego Moises a long time ago in case we ever have a son :)
Good luck and I'll post more if I think of any. Haha, that's funny considering I should know plenty off the top of my head...just hard to choose some that are unique but easily pronounced in both languages.
