The obs in my area check every week in the last 4 weeks. Up until 36 weeks they don't check you except at your first prenatal visit.

They start checking at @37weeks. I had a c-section and thats when they started with me. They checked me at 38weeks and i was dilated to 3cm 100%effaced and starting labor so dr send me straight to hospital to have my son.

I really don't even understand why so many people on here know they're dilated at all. My dr only ever checks when you're in labour. Checking early can introduce bacteria and it could also irritate the cervix and cause pre term labour. There is no need for it at all, if you did happen to go into labour before your c section they would give you something to stop the contractions and then take you for your can section, no drama!

Generally they won't if you have a planned c-section, they might just to see if you're dilating because they don't want you to, but there's really no sense in it if you're having a c-section, because checking it can introduce bacteria, which is of course bad. If you're interested, you could always ask your doctor, good luck!
