Flu Vaccination

What is your opinion on flu vaccinations during pregnacy. I argued with my doctor about it. I'm 18w1d and I refuse to have one. I've managed so far in my life without it. I don't believe in them, to be honest. If you get sick, you get sick.. You put up with it. He thinks because I work around children I am more at risk and so is baby, my immune system is pretty good. I've only had 2 colds in the past year. What's your thoughts?

Lanny_Licorice - I am totally on the same page as you. So is my husband. I mean I will still vaccinate our child when they are born but while he/she is safe in my belly - there's no way. I haven't even taken Panadol.

I got the flu shot with both pregnancies. Rather have the vaccine then have the flu while being pregnant

I refused too. I don't know, I mean... I don't even want to take Tylenol or tums while bein' pregnant. I juss let everythin' happen naturally and take It's course, but I'm juss bein' a weirdo or so that's what my doctor says lol. My mom even told me not to. I don't even want to do the Tdap vaccination (whooping cough plus tetanus) until I have him and they pressure me about that every time I have my visit/appt's. Maybe 'cuz google Isn't a good Idea to research all of this stuff while bein' pregnant lol.

I get my flu shot every year. Im not sure if your aware about the swine flu thing but in 2009 when I was pregnant with my first I had the H1N1 vaccine. And I have been fine and never got sick :)

We're exposed to far more toxins in our homes and the environment than from one 0.5mL flu shot, you would need hundreds to end up with enough toxin to have any effect on you or baby.

It wont harm you and the baby and its better to be safe. My midwife gave it to me and I'm glad I did cause for last couple of months till now most of the people I talk to have the flu. I mean all they have to do is prick you ones and tada ... you're safe. I'm not saying it guaranteed you wont get sick but atleast you were protected in some ways. I think in my opinion, you should get it. Doesn't cost anything and I'm sure its harmless.

I get a flu shot every year, mostly because it's required where I work (an ob/gyn office) but I have to say I think it saved me this year, I did still catch the flu and had a positive flu swab, but I was onl sick for a couple weeks and didn't feel like I was dying for a month+ like the majority of the patients we've seen that have it and didn't have their flu shot.

I agree with you, I've had the swine flu vac back when I was in school (because it was free and my mom wanted me to get it) and honestly it just made me sick. I say if your immune system is fine then why should you need it? Your Dr should respect your decision
