Venting and really getting frustrated

I know this isn't a forum for new parents (really there isn't one for new parents-maybe there should be?) but I am just getting so frustrated with my daughter's lack of napping. She's tired! She's so tired she's cranky. I end up putting her on the breast so she'll fall asleep (she fights it any other way), and then if I try to put her down in her crib once she is asleep, she wakes up within 5-10 min. She'll sleep a good hour or more if I hold her but I don't want to be stuck having to hold her every time she needs to nap! I can't do that. I personally am not in favor of CIO so that's not an option. I am at my wits end... I would love to hear other's stories about problem nappers and if/how you figured out a way to fix it?

Apparently there is a forum for new parents! It's called First-time parents (0-6 months) It's not very busy right now so we should try and rally up the new moms (and dads) who post on this forum over there!

This might sound a little silly but I trick my daughter when she does that. Once she falls asleep I'll keep both my hands under her put her in the crib and stay there for a minute til she settles. Then slowly move your hands from under her. Doesn't work all the time but it doesn't wake them so much. I agree we NEED a new mommy forum. Asap. Haha.

Sometimes she'll fall asleep in the swing but only for 30 min. And I have a fan in her room that I turn on when I put her in her crib to nap. Still doesn't work.

How about putting her in a swing or carseat to nap and then putting a fan on in the same room so she hears the white noise instead of other noises which might b waking her. Good luck dear!

I'd love to even be able to take a nap myself and have not been able to in forever. 'sleep when the baby sleeps'-easier said than done, especially with a baby that wakes up when you put her down.

Invest in a sling or wrap, so you can get things done and she can still feel you near her. Or try rolling recieving blankets long ways and put her up next to one in her crib. She just might want the comfort of feeling something or someone next to her. Try swaddling her as well. Also remember that babies pick up on your emotions, so if you're frustrated she will be cranky because she senses that. There's nothing wrong with setting her down somewhere safe, and walking away for a few mins to gather your senses. Once you're able to calm down she should as well, and hopefully start wanting to nap more!

She's 4 months old. We use to swaddle at night but it's summer here and way too warm to swaddle now. We have window ac units but it's still warm.

I'm going through that right now, mines 9 days old and he is fighting to stay awake right now! Nursing isn't helping cuz when I lay him down he wants up. If he isn't swaddled before bed he won't sleep at all. He kept me up last night I ended up putting the nursing pad backwards so when I went to nurse this morningI had the sticky part on my boob!! TMI I know! I won't Co-sleep either to risky!

How old is she? Have you tried swaddling her? I've always been told that they feel more secure when they are all bundled up tight.
