Full term and no change?

I am concerned because I am full term and I am not dilated or effacing, not dropping, not having contractions not even braxton hicks contractions yet, no labor signs at all and I feel my baby is going to be big not to mention I not sure but it feels like his body is positioned sideways instead of long ways. I don't know what to do I was thinking about continuing to try naturally inducing labor but nothing seems to be working. My worst fear is to have a c section because the baby is too big. Do you think the doctors would be able to do a growth scan?

I wouldn't give it a second thought. Full term is deemed 40 weeks (though many claim 37 weeks is 'full term' pregnancy still is to 40 weeks) and unless you were that far it's not an issue. You still have a month to go and a lot can change in a matter of days or even hours.

Since your only 36 weeks you really have no need to worry! Baby could still not come for 4-6 weeks! Its completely normal for babies not to come soo early. Dont stress, baby will come when they are ready!

Primrose oil helps soften your cervix and efface I took the evening primrose oil for 3 days and my water broke the morning after my 3rd dose. What I did was go to Walgreens bought the 60 count 1000mg of evening primrose oil and took one orally at night and also took one and inserted it up my vagina next to my cervix  every night be sure to wear a pad when the oil pill pops some leaks out the pill has postroglanids ( spelling??) the same thing that sperm has on it. I did this 3 nights in a row, did my pregnancy dance watch the one on you tube with women danncing to ice ice baby! lol then i briskly walked a mile the 3rd day and the next morning I woke up and had a bloody show and my water was leaking it was 5 am contractions started by 530 and at 7 am I was already 6 cm dilated then at 9 contractions started getting closer and worse  at 920I suddenly felt the need to push and they checked me and I was a 10cm and after 4 pushes at 945 I was holding my baby girl ! The primrose oil makes your cervix really soft and helps your dilate faster midwifes say its safe to do this at week 35 I waited until 36 weeks 2 days and my baby was born on 36 weeks 5 days but she was 7 pounds 7 ounces and 18 1/2 inches long ! I hope your holding your baby soon good luck! I was due dec 14th she was born the 21st. Good luck I saw your post and thought u may want to hear my story.

If u are a first time mom its normal to go past your due date. Just relax. I doubt they will do a scan just to check babys scan just because you are overdue. Just relax. Baby may not be ready yet! Your due date is just an estimate and can be off 2 weeks either way! At some point dr will induce you, if you are already 40 weeks then you shouldnt have much longer! If ur not then just wait baby may not be ready

They can def do a scan to see the position of the baby, although your doctor may be able to tell simply by doing an external examination of your stomach.  But as far as for growth...yes, they can do a scan for that BUT, these are very unreliable.  They do the best they can, but they can only go by measurements, etc.  They can be off by a pound or two either way, so you could think you will have this huge baby, get a c-section, and it be for nothing.  I'd try to go vaginally if possible.  You can get an epidural, or other pain meds, if you become too uncomfortable, and if you are okay w/ that.

Good luck!  You are almost there!!!

What did you mean by full term?  37 weeks or 40?  I would not a scan they might psyke you out and say it is too big.  I would try to deliver naturally because there have been some massive babies born vaginally and I would avoid a c section at all costs.  If you are only 37 weeks I wouldn't stress too much about no labour signs.

Have you tried doing anything to try to get dilated or effacing? I've heard of these pills called primrose oil pills that you can drink and put down there that are suppose to help you speed things up.

depends on the dr, if the dr feels the baby is breech, sideways, or too big usually they will do a scan to measure the baby's size and etc. good luck, my daughter was breech until 35 weeks and then was too big to fit through my birth canal so we had a scheduled c-section with her, which was also my biggest fear, unfortunately this pregnancy bc of some complications i have and etc dr is making me have another c-section. it's not as bad as you think it just ***** bc the recovery time is longer.

I don't have a set doctor at my hosiptal. I have a new nurse/midwife everytime I go in for an appointment which I think is dumb :(

Depends on the doctor. My doctor is guessing my baby will be big. We have a scan planned closer to my due date to see exactly how big she is. If she is too big they may do a c section.. hopefully that is not the case.
