First pregnancy--misscarriage or misdiagnosed

The first day of my last missed period was May17.  I was told that i was 11 almost 12 weeks.  Went in to ER with a small amount of brown discharge (old blood?)  on Thursday night.  Told to come back Friday for another ultrasound this time with a full bladder.  Told it looked like i was only 6-7 weeks along and the fetal pole was visible but was told no heart beat...told i was having a misscarriage.  Advised to come back on Monday if i had not yet begun to bleed.  I haven't had any other irregular discharge since that on thursday night...My mother a nurse is seemingly more optimistic than the ER and that they might be wrong and that I may still be pregnant.  I don't want to get my hopes up...could they be wrong or will they make me wait longer than Monday to have a D&C????

Joy gave you great advice...the only thing I can add to it was that I had a mc at 11 weeks in december and I had no cramping and mild spotting that was very light...discharge/bleeding can vary person to person and itsn't a great indicator...unfortunately, like all pregnancies, all miscarriages seem to be different so it is difficult for us to say whether it is or isn't one.  Please take comfort in knowing that you can come here for support of a mc or a healthy pregnancy.  Take care!

That's a really tough situation to be in and I'm so sorry you're in it. It is very possible that you "missed" a period and are in fact only 6 weeks pregnant. In that case, you wouldn't see a heartbeat. Sooooooooo... get another ultrasound in a couple of weeks. You just may see a beating heart! This has happened to a few other women I've come across and their babies were born healthy.

At the same time, don't get your hopes up because the ER/sono could've been accurate. Mistakes are made all the time. I hope your baby is fine!
