HOW OFTEN DO U THIN YOU NEED TO HAVE SEX TO INDUCE THE LABOUR

im now 39w today 3rd baby i have had a horrible pregancy this time round unfourtuntely and now enough is enough...
For the past 2 months my son has been really low and then last visit with miwife 2 days ago he has decided na bugger ya and had come back up is only just head down and is posterior postion i have had it!! i wnat him out so the only thing left in my options now to try is sex.
Which we started last night uncomfortable and weird i did not really enjoy it but midwife said its the only thing that will really help kick start active labour... but how often do i need ti do it once a night is it enough or should i be doing more?

There's one way that I know has helped my mom start labor, maybe tmi, but I hope it works for you. Start by rubbing your right nipple clockwise for 15 mins, then move to your left nipple, and repeat on both nipples. So for a full hour, if nothing happens within a few hours after that, do it again. Good luck!

yeah the rules are pretty strict here have tightened up alot over the past year or two regarding induction.

@stacey I did #2 drug free naturally although was a very quick labour, def after my experience with #1 natural birth i wouldnt do it again it was horrible.
It also made a huge difference in my kids, #1 was stressed all the time and was a hard baby to deal with #2 is mallow as and always has been she was very easy to look after.

I Wwas saying to df how am i meant to get in and out of this lol so climbed in and couldnt get my leg high enough to get out i sorta rolled over the side lol...

@adgal
ive never done a water birth or home birth but have experienced both drug free and drugged labours, this child being our last i wanted to do something different.
I have heard good and bad about water birtha sn i guess its each to there own.

my opinion on drugs is that you go thru your whole pregnancy being cautious and not being allowed to take things cause of the harm it will cause for 9 whole months, then in labour women decided to drug themselfs and there babies for pain relief why its only 1 days youve just been 9 mkonths with out all that and being super careful thats my opinion though i dont have anything against ppl who do choice that option but for me its not even a option at all unless he needs some thing to keep him safe upon delivery

I actually have two co workers that recently did home water births.  They said it was a fantastic experience and they are very happy they made the decision they did.  Both of them had boys who are happy healthy little guys...and they are such mellow calm babies.  I think your choice is a wonderful one.  I still hope you go into labor quickly.  Wow 15 days?  I'm not sure how far over they let you go here.  I went into labor at 38 weeks, so never found out..lol.

and @stacey thats totally correct im not so much against drugs or not natural stuff but i want everything the way borth was intended to be with the feeling and the pain and the natural breaking of waters etc...
HOme natural water birth is my only choice unless hes in danger of course other wise ill tough it all out as long as i have my glass of water and ice to chew ill be sweet :)

lmao stace..... defintely not the most pleasnat thing to be doing at 39w preg lol....
and @adgal
inducement here is one of those things they dont think very highly of its only really used if theres problems...
theyre quite happy to let you go way over due my #1 was 9 days late the day i went into labour i had been in to see them and see if they would induce me they were gunna leave me until 15days over!! WAS GOBSMACKED
so its not really an option so im just trying all natural ways i possibly can to help wee man move and come out.

I'd put more weight on having those pressure points in your feet  done than the sex itself, as, as you have said they're good for softening the cervix, and if, if you can manage to have an orgasm at this uncomfortable stage (hehe) thats what will start you contracting

Oh, I feel so badly for you.  It's too bad your having such a rough go of it.  I hope your little one comes quickly, and given that you've had a rough pregnancy, I hope it's an easy breezy delivery for you!  And I hope you go into labor tonight!!!!  No overdue!  Would they consider inducing you or is that not a popular option there.  I'm in Canada and I know here they don't like to do it unless it's required for medical reasons, but I know some places they will do it for you if you ask.

I have heard the theory about the sperm.  I have heard it works, and also heard that the amount that would be required is more then the male body can produce.  Who knows.  Maybe it does work - it certainly can't hurt anyway.  I truly do hope it works for you.

Thanks here in new zealand sex is actually the top of the list for pregnancy inducement as theyve been doing studies, sperm has the same chemical on the end of it that the gel does that they use for inducement at a hospital oviously not quite as strong though. theory is the chemical helps soften your cervix and helps contract so when its gone your body trys to contract itself.
I guess yeah you can say alot of ppl at this point have had enough but for me im over it, ive had babies 9 days over due and i dont wanna go there again i cant walk or anything now and i need my life back to look after my other kids.
So the sex is a way for me to try help kick start the process, i know im close to 40w now but it still seems forever and everyday closer i get is more of a struggle :(

Well, there is no real proof that having sex induces labor.  There are lots of theories around getting labor started but no one truly knows if they really work or not.  For the most part these babies just come when they are darn good and ready.

The end can be so tough. Your so tired and just want it over.  I get it, I think most of us hit that stage.  And I'm sorry you have had a tough pregnancy.

The good news is that it should be soon now.  Your so close to 40 weeks, and it really could be any minute.  The fact that he is not super low doesn't really mean anything.  I hope he gets here soon, and wish you a super easy delivery!  Congrats to you.
