EXTREME HIP PAIN

I am in my 23rd week of preg and experiencing sever hip pain. Several times a day I have to sit down and crack my left hip so that I can walk again. Throughout the night I have to literally plop myself to the floor to crack it too so that I can move again. Once the hip has cracked, I feel much better - but I have noticed lately that it wont crack as easily and the need to crack is becoming much more frequent. I am concerned that I will not be able to walk in weeks to come and don't know what to do. The pain sometimes caused my left leg to ache and my back to hurt too - but a heat pad seems to minimize that pain temp. Has anyone else heard of this or experienced this and what did you do to help it?

Thanks, If I don't crack at this point, I am not able to move it. Sounds gross and I dont understand it either as I have NEVER had this in my life. I cant wait to hear what doc says tmrw. Thanks for the comments and advice though .

Your hips shift and tilt during pregnancy. I wouldn't crack the hip unless your doc clears it just  to be safe.

Thanks, the pain changes and comes and goes. When I spend time at the pool, the pain decreases which I guess means that exercise is helping, I have tried heat but in the middle of the night - I am dying of pain. Sometimes its a light ache in my leg and sometimes its a crazy back pain too - lower back that is. Thanks for the advice. I have an apt with my doc tmrw and will be bringing this up for sure. I hope this does not last the full preg. I also think it could be from a fall down the stairs I had when i was 8 weeks preg andéor the change of weather as it is getting colder now and they seems to tense up my body causing more pain. UGH, the joys of pregnancy :)

Does the pain originate in your hip/back area? if so this could be SI pain... something I deal with.

Normally it just makes the backside of my hip hurt, but if it hurts bad enough it causes my entire lower back to hurt. I am in pain management because of what dr's suspect, is I injured the SI in a fall right after my first pregnancy while it was still loosened causing chronic pain (this is pain that make me unable to eat or sleep it's so bad, I can't even hold my 15mo old so it's not "normal" pain.

I'd suggest some heat on the hip, maybe a warm bath (warm baths are OK in pregnancy!!)   the reason the SI joint hurts in pregnancy is it begins to spread open to get ready for the birth of the baby. the dr's said that for most women if they have SI pain it can get better after the birth of the baby as the joint tightens up again.
