Temping/ OPK Question

First month TTC after a D&C in March. I'm on CD 12 or 13 and I just took my first OPK and it was negative. I've been tracking my BBT since CD 7 every morning and it's always 97.70. I was getting frustrated that it was always the same temperature and was wondering if there was a problem with my thermometer so I just took my temp after getting home from work and it was 96.4?? Much lower after being out and about all day long? Could this indicate the temp drop prior to ovulation or is this unreliable? Also could I of missed the LH surge which is why my OPK was negative but still be ovulating within the next 24-48 hours? Sorry first time using OPK's and it's a little confusing to me.

As for the temps, sherry is right.  You have to take your temp each morning, BUT it has to be at the same time.  You have about a 30 minute window either way from your normal time but the same time is best.  If you take your temp at different times each morning, you won't get an accurate read.

I don't know a whole lot about OPKs.  I do know you are suppose to use them at the same time each day and I know it's NOT suppose to be w/ FMU, as with a pregnancy test in many cases.  OPKs are said to work better in the afternoon/evening time.

Good luck!

TRacking temps take a couple months to see a pattern!!!! As for taking temps you need to take first thing in the morning before getting out of bed.  This is your actual temp at resting.  As for opk's start using at cd 10 (if you don't know when you O) and take all the way until you get a +.  Most ladies will do this first thing in the morning and again in the afternoon as most women get there LH surge in the afternoon. (they test twice so they don't miss the surge)  NOt everyone O on cd 14.  I myself do not O until cd 19-21 so be patient. Some women get a drop in temp right before O but most dont.  You will know if your temping if you've O'ed your temp will rise.  You can take a peek at my charts to get an idea.  Hope this helps!!  GL
