39w1d...labor soon?

I'm 39w1d. Went to the doc this past Tuesday. I was dialated to (maybe) 2cm with a thick cervix. Doc told me if I don't have baby by next appointment she would schedule me to be induced before 41 weeks which would be no later then 8/10. My due date is 8/3. Being induced on or after 8/6 would be ideal so my husband can actually be there and be able to take days off anything before that wouldn't be good. My appoint is 7/31. I've had no symptoms of labor. What are my chances to at least make it til 8/6?? Plus do you think if by my next appointment I didn't have the baby the doc would schedule me to be induced only 3 days after my due date? You think they'd understand given my circumstances?

You dont have to be induced. Im 40+3 today and my dr wont even tal about inducing cuz im not dilated or thinned. Maybe ask her to just do a membrane strip and thats at least something to get you started but if you get induced and your body isnt ready its just going to make your labor longer than necessary and sometimes makes it harder too. If you are not having any labor signs i wouldnt go thru with the induction. I know i sound like a total all natural pregnant lady here but honestly im not. Just heard a lot both ways and your body will do what it needs to when it needs to. Our bodies were made for giving birth and they do what they are supposed to when they are supposed to.

Just stand your ground. They cant make you be induced. Tell your doc to schedule it after the date you need. Most docs just wont let you go over 42wks.
