Baby cereal mixed into formula.....

For those of you who have mixed cereal into your baby's formula, whatever the purpose, what ratio did you use?  My latest "brainstorm" in the quest to eventually wean G is to mix a bit of cereal in with his formula to (hopefully) make the taste more agreeable to him.  He doesn't mind the taste of formula when it's used to mix up his cereal so I was wondering if I could capitalize on this somehow and add a bit of cereal to his bottle....?

I used a nut pick to make the hole larger.  It worked well for getting it large enough for the cereal to get through but not so large that the bottle contents would spill out all over.

im currently doing 1/2 tsp for every ounce....i do this at such an early age because my baby has acid reflux pretty bad (she stopped breathing a few times because of it)...so the doc ok'd it and so far it has been working nicely (minus getting stuck in the nipples)

I've done 1-2 tbsp to about 3 ounces depending on how thick you want it .  I know some people don't agree with it but I've done it with most of my kids becuase of reflux issues...especially my first, and had no problems with it.

My younger son was put on emfamil ar which has rice cereal in it already. This was done at the request of his doctor because of reflux issues. If you are open to changing his formula i would try that over doing it yourself. I never put it in the bottle on my own with either of my boys because of the choking and having to cut bigger holes. There are also infant feeders you can buy that are made to put cereal/jar food into and they suck it out. I kind of looks like a sippy cup with handles.

I started adding cereal to my kids' bottles when they were a couple months old.  I started with like 1/4 teaspoon and slowly increased it.  The main thing is that you don't want it to be too thick.  Doctors generally say not to do it because it can be a choking hazard.  Since I kept it pretty thin, I didn't have any choking problems with them.

You're not supposed to put cereal in bottles. I know a few rare doctors who do say it for younger babies with reflux but the general consensus is to not do it.
