Mattress

What do I look for in a crib mattress? Is there a specific type that's better than others?

Most are generally the same, at least the major brands. Honestly what I did was go on Amazon and search by best reviews. Firm is a must, babies don't need "soft" nor is it safe. They need firm. Always, always go with water resistant. Get the kind with the water resistant coating, not just plastic on it (it's loud!).

I think a firm, water proof mattress would be best. I've heard firm is better to prevent SIDS.

Also, if your baby develops acid reflux they sell mattress inserts to elevate your baby's head. Too keep the acids down.

I'm a ftm though so I'm just going off of some research.

Do you have a crib yet? I bought my crib today (well my mom did as a bday gift) and it came with a mattress for 20 dollars more and the actual mattress was worth 60!!! :) its super soft and comfortable AND its water resistant :)
