My placenta's in the wrong place

So i found out I was having a girl today, second one. Yay!
Anyway, I also found out my placenta is between the baby and my cervix and it's supposed to be about 2cm away from the cervix, they said since I'm so early on (almost 17wks) It's got plenty of time to move into the right position, that I may have some light bleeding here and there, anyway if it doesn't turn out the way it's supposed too (which apparently 95% of the time it does) it could be life threatening, now I will be having a second csection so idk how different the situation could be in that case. This was an ultrasound specialist so not my dr and I will get more details on this at my next ob appointment. But has anyone had this issue before? I had an easy breezy pregnancy w. my first daughter. (Sorry for the long post)

Mine had moved by 36 wks and I had a vaginal delivery with no problems.

oops,  sorry,  the placenta moves out of the way,  not the cervix.

I agree,  95% of the time,  the cervix moves out of the way.    If it doesn't move,  and becomes a serious problem,  you will be well aware of it and a life threatening condition for you (loss of blood) won't happen quickly where you can't make decisions in time to save yourself and your baby,  if the baby is far enough along.

Watch for bleeding,  and if there isn't any or it's light spotting,  you're fine.

I had the same thing. And it moved by the time I had another sonogram.
