Not good news at the doc today

I have some not so good news from this morning and was wondering if anyone could help. I had my first Baby appointment this morning and they had to do the ultrasound where they put that thing up your vaginal to get the pics because my uterus is tipped or something. Anyway i went back to the nurses room and she said that she had some not so good news for me. she said they they weren't picking up a heart beat on the ultra sound. she said my uterus was too big for the baby, so maybe it was bigger then died, and is now shrinking. i have to go back in this Thursday for some more tests to see if my whatever them levels are called are going up or down. i am so nervous and so numb. this is my first pregnancy so anything anyone can do to give me advice on what is going on would be greatly appreciated.

the date of my last period was either the 18 or 19th of December.I am not doing the D&C thing. I am not giving up hope!

If they reccomend a D&C ask to wait, not every pregnancy is the same, I someone  told that they need a d&c and refused and had a healthy baby right on schedule. (they couldn't detect heart beat when they "should" have)

Tell us when was the first date of your last menstrual period? The size of uterus doesn`t make me sense. Maybe you are just 6 weeks pregnant and that`s why they can`t see the heart beat. Also for that weeks of pregnancy that level of B-hcg is normal.

they said the size of my uterus is the size it should be for 11 weeks but the baby was only measuring the size of 5 weeks and 8 days. the hospital just called and said that my hcg levels (whatever they are called ) were at 23,182. they said they had to wait til thursday to compare them with these and see if they are going up or down.
