Nuchal trans U/S

hey all

So I am 12w3d today.. I had this u/s done today.... The sonographer and dr said the baby is growing perfectly.. the Nuchal trans. is a perfect size. Nose was perfect. Legs, arms, belly is all normal size;... Placenta was in good shape... dr asked me if I wanted the blood work for Trisomy 18... I said since the u.s looked great there was no need for the blood work. He understood ... I said I wasn't worried since the u/s looked good. The heart rate is 161bpm. The baby was sleeping this time. Started moving around towards the end.

so he said I go back in 6 weeks for my 18w u/s.. So 6 weeks will be my next OB appt. This is a long stretch it seems especially since I have high blood pressure. I guess the dr thinks everything is OK... I'm a bit concerned tho for the long stretch in between dr visits.... I may end up having the 2nd tri screening during that appt.

Has anyone had this long of a stretch between dr visits??

Lisa

All my appointments at the beginning were every 6 weeks.  Once I reached 28 weeks, they changed to every 4 weeks.  Tomorrow I have another appointment (I'll be 35 weeks) and then they'll be every 2 weeks or once a week.  Not sure.

If you are concerned about the length of time between visits, maybe you could call and tell them  your concerns and see if you can get a closer appointment? I know my doctors have allways tried their best to accomodate me, especially if I'm having concerns!

yeah my OB is a high risk dr as well due to my high blood pressure... I was just baffled by the long stretch in between appointments.

most are every 4 weeks but I have them every two to three weeks with a history of complications and being on meds for pre term labor. If your dr is concerned though he will make them closer for you, also if you have a concern you canalways go in for an extra visit!!! You need peace of mind as much as you need to be healthy! It is part of the package!
