thanks losing my mind and joy renee. the reason they cant come to the dedication is our chuch is really small and the dedication gets done during the usual church service and well my family is really big. lol so they wont all fit in.
but that you for the information
I also found this onling:
When organising a naming day at home, there are a few things you will need to consider. For instance, the number of guests you would like and how to cater for them -- nibbles and sandwiches or a sit-down meal? If you are considering 'supporting adults' instead of godparents, it would be nice to say a few words at the naming as to why you have chosen them and what role you hope they will play in your child's life. You may want to make a speech, or do a reading from a favourite poem or piece of prose. It's also nice to explain why you have chosen your child's name and what it means to you.
There's a lot of non-religious people in my family and they still attend special things like dedications and baptisms for their loved ones. If they truly want to be a part of this special time, they'll come! But if you don't care about two different things, then that's cool too.
I have no idea what a baby naming day entails but it sounds interesting!
Would your side of the family consider coming to your church for the dedication? Just a thought. I googled name days and found this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Name_day
http://www.mynameday.com/
not sure if that's what you were meaning but i guess it's a start :)
