OT-- Trick or Treating for a 2.5 year old

so my hubby is in the Air Force and did not get off of Halloween night to take his step son (son pretty much) and I totally understand. He feels awful but that is the Air Force for ya! My problem is that recently weird things have been happening around our neighborhood (cars getting broken into, stuff stolen, shady new neighbors) and we live in Las Vegas and the high for tomorrow is like 60 and the low is the low 40's. I hate to deprive him of missing out on dressing u but I figured I could put something together to stay at home to do. I also would not feel safe in a big city taking him out by myself. Does anyone have any input? Confused.

Yeah, great thing about lil kids is that they really don't understand.
It's once they get to school age is when they start really paying attention to what's going on around them.

We just decided to stay home, we baked some cupcakes and I got him his own little basket full of treats that I got to pick out for him and he seems like he could care less!

You don't GATTA trick or treat in your town y'know.
Growing up me n my siblings always went in the next town over cuz it was suburbs and it was a safe neighborhood.
I can't take my daughter trick or treating this year either cuz there's been alot of stuff going on in our town and last I heard there was an Amber Alert out, and I don't wanna go out alone cuz I'm 36w5d- I wouldn't stand a chance if someone were to try something.

My hubby's a prison gaurd and is working right now. He won't get home till after midnight.
I can't take her to the mall cuz our Mall S U C K S and isn't doing like most malls do for Halloween.
Even if they were I have no way of getting there cuz hubby has the car and is an hour away. =[

I would deff check into taking him to the mall!!

There's usually early trick-or-treating for the younger ones, before it gets dark. You could also always pick a couple safer blocks to take him on. Just a few houses and I'm sure he'll have a blast!

Another option is to see if any local churches are having Trunk-or-Treat or something similar. Basically all the kids trick-or-treat at the church either in the parking lot or in a reception area inside. It's safe and there's usually a ton of games and prizes.

google your local malls and see what they are doing.  around here there is trick or treating tonight at one mall and the other is tomorrow night.  usually you will find "safer" things for you to do with small kids where they still get to do the nice festive activities.  maybe you could still dress up and go to a house or two still being able to stay close but giving him the experience.  otherwise, you can stay in and do what most people do as the pre-halloween prep...paint pumpkins, make the rice crispy treats in halloween shapes.  I would just make it a nice mommy and baby night that is all about him.  have fun!
