I saw a peri after my first u/s with my second daughter because she had a two vessel cord. They are just more specialized with baby's who are in utero and the pregnancy. A regular OB is your Dr. and specializes in pregnant women not the fetus as much. They will be able and more experienced with what is found on the u/s than a regular OB or tech.
Okay thanks! From what they told me they'll be scanning her again...they found a little white spot on her tummy they want a better look at. Hoping the spot is gone but no matter what, excited to see her again. :)
I went to one for an ultrasound and an amnio. I also met with a genetic counselor beforehand who explained my risks. I had a 1:60 chance of Trisomy 18 with my son, so she explained that I had a 98.4% chance that he was okay. After that, they asked me about 4 times if I was sure I wanted the amnio. I was glad I did it because in two days I got the prelimanry results that he was fine and that he was a boy! Best of luck to you on Friday.
The ultrasound will be longer though. So if laying on your back causes it to hurt, you'll be stiff for a bit after.
I went to one for my detailed ultra sound, it was not bad, just an ultrasound. They'll have the tech do the ultrasound then the perinatologist will come in and go over what he sees.
I go to one tomorrow :-) I can let ya know what happens :-)
