Mobile phones do give radiation and some research shows it can have developmental or behavioural issues in the child later in life. Men aren't supposed to have their phones in their trouser pockets because the radiation can damage their sperm so it's not worth the risk (whether you believe the research or not) to have your phone close to your stomach. Even by us using our phones it damages our brains. The radiation is bad. But so is the radiation from other things too - not to mention the toxins etc we breathe in every day our put in mouths eating the food we have.

It's your risk with the phone, but in my opinion I would do/have done anything to protect my baby as much possible. I do think it's very naive not to believe the research.

My laptop is on my lap all the time, and my baby is doing great at almost 18 weeks. I also keep my cell phone in my pocket next to my belly when im out. I doubt these things can cause any harm.

I never heard that before. I am 22 weeks along and i have put my phone on my stomach loads of times and so far everything in my pregnancy is completely normal.

What little radiation a cell phone puts out will likely not harm your baby. I work in a nuclear plant, and the amount I get, which is actually measurable, is still not likely to cause any issues.

Also, I broke my finger around 7 weeks and had two x-rays for it. Still not likely to be enough to cause harm.

I heard not to do it during the first trimester, something with radiation, but I never really did it anyway because the vibrations tickle too much. I know people who have done it and their baby turned out fine. I don't see what harm it can do.
