Should I travel while pregnant?

I recently had a miscarriage at eleven weeks and am ten weeks pregnant again!  This will be my third child, and with my second child, I went into labor at 26 weeks. I was on strict bedrest until he was born four weeks early.  I have an abnormal uterus, so I am at risk for preterm labor.  My husband wants to take a trip to Florida this summer, and I am afraid to travel, because of my past complications.  He thinks I am being anal and overly skeptical.  Any thoughts? Thanks.

Thanks to you all for your advice and insight, and I will definitely ask my doctor.  I suspect he may say exactly what you all are saying.  My husband just isn't as paranoid and nervous as I am, and of course, wants to plan our trip ahead of time.  I definitely don't want to be stranded away from home, or worse, and I want to do what's best for me and my baby.

Ashelen, we are visiting Milton, which I think is maybe 1/2 hour from Pensacola, which is where my hub's family is.  Not sure if your familiar.

Thanks again!

I agree with the other ladies...the only person that can really answer this for you is your Dr.  If you are able to go, have fun!!!!!!

The other ladies are right about all of that....and I also want to stress (since I live in FL) that it depends where in FL you are headed. A lot of the coastal cities don't have hospitals, and if you're headed to one of the smaller resort towns it can mean quite a hike to a hospital. On the other hand, most of our big hospitals (about 6 scattered all over the state) are fantastic and some of the best in the country.

i would def talk to your doc about travel....im extremely high risk for pre term labor as well and not allowed to travel more then 4 hours away per my doc....my family lives 10 hours away so im not sure when ill see them again....def talk to your doc and explain to your husband that you are worried about this...he should be more understanding...best of luck

I think it would be wise to wait until closer to the time he wants to go, wait and see and this pregnancy goes.  Just becuase you had issues last time doesn't mean you will this time.  But you are at increased risk.  I think it's wise to wait and closer to time, consult with your doctor, have your doctor explain to your husband any reasons why you shouldn't if there are any.

Aside from the obvious, your husband needs to think about finances, could he afford to stay in florida if something were to happen and you were to be put into the hospital?

i think you should consult your doctor on this. how far along will you be at the time of traveling? if your at risk for preterm labor, traveling is definitely a concern.
your doctor will be able to advise you better on this subject than i can..but all i can really say is it's definitely more of a risk for you to travel than for someone else.
if you were to go into preterm labor just consider the consequences. you would be in a different state, and would have to go to a different hospital. idk.. like i said talk to your doctor.
