Epidural...

I m 31wks.. my brothers a doctor and saying that i should get epidural taken during labour.. but i m scared of the drawbacks.. my whole family had natural births.. he had very bad experience with his wife so he is implementing his decision on me that i should get it done... and worst part is i had it in my mind since i fell pregnant but by 28wks i changed my mind that i should deliver naturally... so i have appointment tomorrow and i ll be discussing my birthplan with her well i hope.. can any of you ladies tell me whether i should go for epidural?

I did not want it with my first certainly don't want it this time. For me I don't want to worry about the possible risks however small I want the freedom to move after delivering and I don't want any chance baby will have effects from it. Everyone is different you can start without it and if you decide its too much get one then

I'm pregnant with my second. My first I was going to get the epidural. I had the IV bags hooked up and I was 10-15 mins away from getting it when my nurse came in to check to see how dilated I was. When she felt, his head was right there! Told me to prepare to push. Got my doctor in there and had everything set up. Within 5-10 mins I was pushing. 25 mins later he was hear! For me, there was no pain. It didn't hurt. Just felt the burn sensation when his shoulders came out. No epidural even though I wanted it. The pain was unbearable for me but I was so surprised how when I was pushing that it didn't hurt. I would wait and see how things go while your in the hospital. You may not need it. :)

I'm a FTM mom and I am only going to get one if it is medically necessary like my blood pressure is too high. I figure my body know what it is supposed to do and as soon as baby is out the pain will stop.

I am preg with second baby, didnt have epidoral with first and wont with second. But that is just a personal thing. Yes it is a lot of pain more then you can imagine but we were made to be able to withstand it so you can make it through it. I have heard good and bad about epidoral but whatever u choose make sure it is bc u want it not bc someone elses openion

The epidural is not as bad as it sounds i have had it you can feel some pain it is just eased. It is the same experience as natural but the pain is increased. The pain was driving me nuts.

I've heard that you never really know until you actually get to that point lol some women say the pain isn't nearly as bad as most people make it out to be, and then other women say that it is the worst pain.
