INDUCTION question

I'm being induced the 19th. I heard it makes contractions worse, can cause complications etc. Is this true?

Lol I appreciate my short labors I really hope #3 is the same.  I fear the horror stories of long labors lol

@mommiKat
You also had really fast labours, so while it may have been the same pain level per contraction as a typical twelve hour labor, you had shorter breaks and more contractions jammed into these short a** labors. If you had had a longer (more relaxed) labor, perhaps you would not have gotten the epidural. But I don't blame you. Pit can s.uck.

I was induced with my first by having my water broken & a bit of petocin, had baby 5 minutes after epidural.  Labor only 2hrs. My second, my water broke with no contractions & I was induced with petocin, high doses, I tried natural but got epidural. Labor lasted 6hrs.  Now that I think about it, maybe that's why I couldn't make it natural! Being induced differs for everybody.

It is possible yes, however going into labor on your own can cause complications too!
both being induced and naturally going into labor can result in a csection
im on baby #3 and was induced with both of my children so far had a great experience both times this baby however i do not want to be induced for the simple fact that this is my last baby and want to know the experience of my water breaking naturally and having to time the contractions etc.
no need to freak out, if you have a poor birthing experience it is not necessarily because of the induction

U still have time to try more natural ways to induce.  Walk long distance every day,  eat a pineapple,  bounce on the edge of ur bed,  Have sex,  That way if u have a bad experience u won't feel bad for not trying other things first.  Good luck

My first pregnancy I was induced and was in labor for 23 hours and almost ended in c-section. She was stuck on my pubic bone because she was face up. My second pregnancy my son just didn't want to come. I had my membranes stripped and finally induced at 40 weeks being 5cm dilated when I went in. I was in labor for about 8 hours. I think everyone is different, and every situation is different.

I had a wonderful, uncomplicated experience when I was induced (not by choice) but it went so well, I plan on being induced this pregnancy as well. The experience varies by person. I think it helped that I was ready dilated to a 3 when going in.

The biggest difference between pitocen contractions and natural contractions is that there's no buildup and very little warning with pitocen. Natural contractions last the same amount of time, but they include buildup and letdown, whereas pitocen is full strength the entire time.
Pitocen can also stress your baby for the same reason it's hurting you, so if you must be induced, talk to your doc about keeping the pit dose lite and turning it off one you've dilated to a certain point.

I was induced 10 days ago with pitocin and had a great experience! I literally couldn't feel ONE contraction until they broke my water then I had contractions. I had about a 6 hour labor. Its not as bad as people say it is but everybody is different! :)

If you're induced with pitocin it is supposed to make the contractions stronger, and last longer. Every one who told me they had it said it was the worst contractions of all their labors. It also can have complications, the contractions can be so strong that it constricts the baby and puts the baby in distress and lead to an emergency csection. I would ask your doctor if its 100% necessary to have pitocin and to weigh all your options! Their are other ways of inducing if you wanted. Make sure you get all of the facts before going in for the induction! Good luck!

It's not true. Everybody is different,  so every pregnancy is different.
I know 3 people who have been induced and had their babies within 12 hours.
As for pain,  everyone's pain tolerance is different so for some it may hurt more or not.
I've heard getting induced may cause you to have a c-section but don't know for sure.
Just remember that everyone's different

Yes very true. Being insuced is directly related to the high c section rate we have now. And make contractions and labor micj worse. Most of my friends have been induced and can end up being in labor for 2 or 3 days. Going into labor naturally is always a better choice...you can tell your doctor no. Forxing your body into labor ia never safe.
