Shaving Down there!!!

Ok well im due in 9 weeks. Which means i havnt shaved my ''down below'' in about 10 weeks!!!
What did all you lovley ladies do when it came time to bear all.
I have no idea what im going to do. the midwife said she doesnt care eitherway.
Though im thinking if i do shave all off it will get itchy when all ill want to do is to sooth down there.
So let me know what you did or are going to do..

I didn't shave myself. I don't even really bother when I'm not pregnant (too annoying, lol) and at most might trim.

Omg im so glad you asked this im so curious, i have 5 weeks left and debating on getting it waxed, i told my dr i cant see it so i cant tame it.. :)

I have an electric shaver with guards so you aren't shaving it all off and you can't cut yourself. I know they don't care... But I do! So I didn't vote because my option isn't there, well I guess that is a lazy way of trimming... Lol!!!

well am 20 and I shave. I just told my husband for the next 20 weeks he is going to be the one cause I cant see down there any more. I hate all that hair down there.

I always trim it up....well I haven't in well over a month, but as I get closer to delivery, I will trim it up. It was funny, last pregnancy, when I knew I was in labor, I took a shower, trimmed up, shaved my legs, underarms, everything! lol I just didn't want to have to worry about it for at least a week after giving birth. lol

Personally, shaving will burn and may not be a good idea after just giving birth, but trimming should be okay.

well i voted for shave for 2 reasons... 1st my sister got baby's daddy to shave it for her... and shes a very picky girl so it had to be perfect literally had to look like she had done a brazilian wax. And  in order for it to be easier for him he would do it about 2ice a week... I used to tell him not even slaves had to do what he did lol...
2nd I couldnt stand the idea of it looking like a black poodle while the doctor examined me...I also did NOT  trust hubby to do it for me, i was afraid he would cut me, so i kept it extra low when i could still reach, and then when i couldnt, i would put a small plastic chair in the bathtub, put both feet up on the sides of the tub, and put a door mirror (yes i took my whole house down when i shaved lol) right in front... being sitting down it made it a lot more confortable and being able to put my feet up on the sides of the tub made it easy to keep them spread plus see what i was doing on the mirror.. lol.. i did this once a week for about 14 wks..

I agree with the trimming, but even that gets difficult when you can't see past your stomach!!!  That's all I do though.  I wouldn't shave either.  I'm w/ Chantal.  I try to do this as close to delivery time as I can so I don't have to worry about it for a while.  With a newborn, we have enough to worry about!!!

I took a shower when I was in labor and shaved just a few hours before delivery. I just did a quick trim. Not that I think any of the drs or nurses really care what you have going on at all. I just didn't feel like being so untamed.

I'd say trimming is easiest, though you really don't need to do anything at all. You can if you want to, but no doctor, nurse, or midwife is going to care what it looks like. I've worked in L&D and no one minds what a woman's down stairs is like. Everyone is focused on the health of mom and baby.

I'm thinking the same, i'm due any day now and while i have kept it under control by trimming as i'm not very hairy down there really when i got a mirror and tried to look in that area i thought oh no i'm looking a bit overgrown, its not that i care what people think its more that i like it to be neat there, normally i shave but i definitely can't see enough to do that myself and i don't trust DH to shave me, last time he tried there he cut me so i think its going to just have be a last minute trim.
Like others have said though as a nurse myself i know the doctor or nurse won't care what it looks like downstairs, they have seen plenty before and believe me when you see men and lady bits on a daily basis you don't even take any notice anymore

When it comes to being in labor I could care LESS if it looks like a forest down there.  I'm not much for putting a lot of thought into things like that. I voted to just leave it natural but that's just me.  I figure my doctor has seen far worse than what I would be coming in with LOL.  

Being as you haven't shaved down there in so long it's likely that once you do it's going to itch when it grows back in.  Not something *I* would want to do, be scratching my privates while a bunch of people stare at them LOL.

I'm a religious shaver of down there.  But when it's time to deliver I don't think I'm going to care too much.  I'll probably just want the baby out of there.  lol.  So I'll probably trim up a bit so I'm not itchy and hurting when the hair starts to grow back.

I had a shower and just did my regular trim/shave clean up before I went in.
I wouldnt do a wax unless u usually do that. Cuz if its a first time waxing u'll be itchy a few days after. No need for any added uncomfort lol

I shaved. But I shaved only downward because when I do that it doesnt cut as close and I dont get ingrowns or have any itchyness, but it is still really short and cleaned up.

I'm with Clysta on this, DH doesnt care what it looks like, And I DONT care what the Doctors think either, If i cant see past my belly, I'm not shaving it. With my first DD After i couldnt see it shave or trim DH did it all for me, I was a little nervious the first few times but he did a great job everytime. But with the one i just had, I didnt bother with anything other than trimming.

Honestly with both of my labors the ONLY thing they EVER commented on was my feet, I go barefoot ALL of the time. with the first one i had just came from fishing to my OB appointment didnt stop any where to get cleaned up, went straight from fishing to the ob then straight to the hospital to be induced.

With the Second well most of yall know how that went down, but what yall dont know was i had went to the medical center to be seen but they was closed, came home pottied saw blood didnt bother with shoes went to the car it was raining so AGAIN I had dirty feet while in labor.

I still shave. Personally, I've never been one to like hair on that region. Now, Df, he doesn't bother me that much. But for my own sanity, I like to keep it down to a minimum if I can't shave it all off. Since I've been pregnant, there have been times I've been feeling wolf like..... LOL.... But, I always tend to shave it off. It used to be baby smooth before I got pregnant but I can deal with the little tiny prickles. As long as I'm not bush'n it.. lol...

I don't like having exams done and they accidently pull a hair. That hurts worse than a hair on the head being pulled to me. I know I probably won't care that much once I go into labor but, I'll do my best to keep it at least down to the minimum. What helps me is soaking in the tub for 10 minutes before shaving. Doesn't feel like it pricks me so bad. I also use a shaving cream with a lotionizer in it. That helps a lot. And if I run out, I just use conditioner. lol...

Df knows he'll have to help me soon, which is okay by me as long as I'm not a poodle when I give birth LOL :)

I voted shave, I cant stand not to shave but thats a personal choice. I dont think there is a reason you have to do it, I think that if you want to do it do it remember you in the delivery room to have a baby not to worry about your down under hair lol :)

I voted shave!!!!!!! I am with the Linzola I can not stand not to shave!!! Even with both pregnancy's I was always clean shaved! I had to have help towards the end. If your embarrassed for DH to help use a mirror.

I put Natural and then I saw you had the option for Trim. I would trim, yes. I'm not a shave-down-there kind of girl anyway. I think it will just end up being whatever you prefer (and if you can reach to shave! Lots of ladies use mirrors or have hubby do it for them; my husband refuses to even shave my calves much less my privates).

If you don't want to be itchy (and I think you will be if you shave because the few times I have shaved it was a NIGHTMARE when it came back in just a couple days later) then just trim and keep it nice and tidy. Birth is messy so it won't matter and the midwife has probably seen all sorts and types of ladies.

I had this same problem a couple weeks ago. I shaved because I have gotten a little "plump" down there so it makes me uncomfortable to sweat. I shaved and with a couple times of holding my breath I got all of it LOL. I wouldnt trust my DH witha razor to my girl parts! GOD forbid he cut me in the wrong place! I'd say shave if you can or even trim a little but if you can't I'm sure it's nothing suprising to the doc if you have a bush goin on!

I love that you posted this!  I have been wondering the same thing for weeks!!  I keep meaning to ask on here, so I am glad you did. :-)
I voted trim - I use a little battery operated feminine trimmer thing mostly and I shave the sides (my inner legs) and top (above) of my feminine parts.  Then, use the trimmer for the rest.  I am scared of getting ingrown hairs, so I use the trimmer mostly so that it doesn't get ALL the hair, but keeps me tidy.  I haven't done it near as much now that I am hugely pregnant, but I'll probably make an attempt now that my appointments are going to be internal exams, too - and in preparation for child birth.
The doctor I had with my first baby told me specifically NOT to shave down there for her benefit - and not to have DH do it either - unless he had before - she didn't want any unnecessary accidents - LOL
I know the doctors and nurses don't care, but it makes me feel better when I am more tidy down there.

trim- use an electric shaver with a guide on if- shave it close, but not all the way off, then its super short, but not at that itchy stage- and they wont have to search the bush for you baby during delivery ;)    lol   Good luck :)
