Yep me to gt at 6 weeks due to bleeding after the shot I did not bleed or spot
Its given to rh - ve mother's.
I had fever on and off after the shot for a week no side effects.
I get mine in the lower back part of the right hip. It doesnt hurt and is over pretty quick :) well its a pinch
Oh wow my first doctor never informed me that of this shot. I'm glad I switched doctors because she probably never would have told me!
I jst got my shot a week ago cause im o- and i was only like 10 weeks they said they may have me do.it again at 28weeks and then again after baby os born i got it below my hip the needle going in i didnt feel it but i felt the liquid going in it felt cold nothing to worry about its for ur baby
I got the shot twice once in the begin of my pregnancy and again at 28 weeks. They gave it to me the first time because I was o- and had just a little bleeding. They told me I needed the shot because I had a negative blood type.
Yes, I had it now with both pregnancies. They use to do it on one of your butt cheeks and that wasn't fun but they do it in the arm now. It's not to bad. They do it because if you baby does have a different blood type your body will try to fight it off and end up killing the baby.
It wouldn't matter, most insurance companies won't pay forthe labs to be done in that situation. Most people actually don't know there own blood type. In the event that you ever needed blood they would do the test and find out your type or just give you O- ... They never just take your word for it.
So would it matter if I found out what blood type my boyfriend is? Because for some reason he doesn't know what blood type he is.
Tauruan92 they won't test the father, just because if by some chance he's not the father, then the results would be different. Usually if the mother is negative they will do the rhogam regardless of the father's blood type.
I had to they never even offered to check him it wasn't bad the nurse was nice the needle was huge and it was a lot of liquid
@jaelee104 only the mother
Yes it is called the rhogam shot for rh- blood types. Your partners blood type isnt the only factor. If you do not get the shot, yes you will miscarry any future babies after baby 2 that may have an rh+ blood type too, and its very unlikely you will have a negative blooded child. Before this shot lots of women suffered as many as 6-7-8 miscarriages bc they didnt know about this. The shot does not hurt and theres no side effects besides being sleepy the next 23-48hrs. Baby will get a shot too if they are rh positive.
Is it only if the mother has a negative blood type? Or do you have to gwt one if the mother has a positive and the father has a negative?
I'm scheduled at 28 weeks I was told to only do it if my partner's blood is positive. The way I was first explained terrified me. If I didn't get the shot I would kill my next child because my body would reproduce antibodies against the babies.
