Telling my family

My husband and I already have a name picked out for our son. But I'm just scared that when I tell my family the name, they'll hate it or have something rude/negative to say. Any advice?

Lol thanks, you made me feel so much better!! Yeah I'll make the announcement to my family tomorrow. Luckily they live about 21 hours away, so I won't see their reactions lol

I love the name Ezra! I think its so unique and just sounds beautiful when you say it. And its simple do people cant just misspronounce it :) Either tell ur family or wait it out. Make it a surprise name when the baby comes thats all. But i really think its a georgeous name and not often used so he wont be stuck in class with five other Ezra lol :)

My family loves the name I'm thinking about but my boyfriend doesnt like it :( he was hoping for a boy but found out its a girl so hes really bummed out anyways

My mom hated the name we picked for our daughter when I was pregnant with her. She is now 3.5 years old and my mom loves her name. Even though some people say her name with a T sometimes instead of a K. Her name is Kiara.

I have plenty of names I like..n my husband too but none have just stuck like with my boys..it will probably be a name like when I see her I will know.

We choose names easily for some reason smashly lol. Just look online for names, or buy a baby name book! Those are always helpful:)

Wow, thanks everyone for your advice! @Babyturnip we're naming him Ezra. What do you ladies think? It's a biblical name, which is what we wanted..and it's not common. Gah, I'm nervous for your thoughts! Lol

I would just tell everyone your not sure what the name will be.  Then tell them after baby comes.  No one ever says anything about it after youve naned thebaby, but for some reason they think they have a say before hand.  My dad and I got in a big fight about my first sons name, he was mad that we wouldnt listen to him and change it.  My parents havebt even asked this time around what his name is.  I think they rralize now that they have absolutly no say in it.

There is always gonna be somebody who doesn't like what you pick but their opinions shouldn't matter. I would nicely tell people who have negative comments that this is your child and its you and your hubbys choice and they your best to not let it get to you.

As long as you like it, don't worry about them. It's YOUR baby, so it's YOUR decision. I'm in the same boat, my husband wants to name our little guy after him and the baby's grandpa but I know my mom's going to have a fit about it. But it's not really her business.

Both my hubby and i's family are judgemental. We had a name for a boy and a girl and they were so rude to the girl name i cried myself to sleep for three weeks hoping it was a boy. In fact we are having a boy but i hate how they ruin this for me. We would of still stayed with name and the day before we found out the gender i told everyone that if i hear anything else to do with the name they would be blocked out of my life and my baby! It shut them up real fast. All in all, theres always someone that will say something bad....just stick to ur guns and dont let them push u around

Im 28 weeks with my second little girl and when we told everyone the name we picked out, my mom and grandma hated it. Of course its not their decision so we aren't changing it. Just go with the name you want and don't worry what everybody else thinks. Its your child, your decision. There's always gona be somebody who doesn't like it, but im sure once he/she is here it will grow on them. Theyll love baby no matter what the name is.

My bfs family doesnt like the name we picked.. whenever they see me they try to convince me to change it. im like nope sorry its not up to you.. i called his mom out cause she said "oh god not that fkin name" n i asked her why she was so rude about it and to stop talkin about changing it.. she did stop but whenever we say the name his sister makes a disgusted face.. i laugh because the names they pick are rediculous and they make suggestions like im going to let them pick my babies name.. get real!!! by the way we chose Maria Autumn because she will be born in the fall.. my bf and i love it so who cares what everyone else thinks
