I'm so sorry you're having to feel this way right now. It should be an exciting time but I know how you feel as I am a mom of 4 year old twin boys. During my pregnancy I had many test done as well, mainly because I was 45 years old at the time so already considered a high risk pregnancy. I would suggest you just ask a lot of questions, you need to know exactly where and why you are going there. It's important because you shouldn't be stressed out right now. I didn't have any test come back positive for anything, including down syndrome. With that said, at about 21 months old, my son was diagnosed with Autism. I am assuming because you had a pulmonary embolism in 2015, they want to make sure you are okay now that's probably the main reason they are sending you to a specialist. When are you due?
Arghh. I know this is a big worry for a mama. I have a dear friend who had a test that was positive for downs. Her baby did not have downs. There is a high percentage of false positives. So much so, I did not take the tests myself. There are mixed thoughts on that. I guess that if I were in your shoes, I'd consider that you still don't really know and prepare just in case. Read up on downs. But try not to worry. I know that is easier said than done. But there really is a good chance things are fine hon. The specialist will help you understand what is going on and prepare you just in case. peace and hugs
I'm not a mom of twins, but I was told that my third baby had downs with one of the tests they ran- she is 7 now, doesn't have downs. These tests are wrong a lot of the time.
Because I had a test that leaned towards my baby being downs, they sent me to a specialist- they did a more in depth ultrasound, monitored babies heart a little closer then my other pregnancies. It was like a regular OB, but they just knew more of how to deal with the things that they were concerned about.
I know this is scary, sounds like they are watching you closely- let us know how you are doing!
My friend had rmthr test it came back one in five her little boy didn't have downs. My son was given a one in 2 so 50/50 and he does have it. These tests are know to give really high false positives. I hope it all works out for you x
