VENT- cribs!

My husband and I bought a beautiful crib from Target. And my cat just put a HUGE gash in one of the slats when he jumped in there. Note- we keep the nursery door shut but somehow the cat got in today, probably one of my daughters let him in.

Anyway, now the wood is starting to SPLINTER.

So now we have to take the whole darn thing apart and return it.

ARG!!!

Anyone else have BETTER crib suggestions for under $200?

Well this crib was $140 so it was definitely cheap.

I am just worried that if a cat could do this (accidentally- he jumped up and his back claw scratched it up bad) then what will happen when a baby has toys in there and is banging on it?!

If any of you know the names of your cribs or where you bought them and the price, let me know!

I got one from babies r us and I must say I love this crib. My daughter is 4 years old and she still sleeps in her crib. It cost me no more than $250. I will definitly be using this crib for the coming babies. If you go with the expensive ones your are basically buying the fanciness of a crib. My sister-n-law got one that cost her over $400 and it only lasted her through her first child. Go cheap!!!

We spent about 250 on Julians and its a 3 in one at burlington! I always get 10% off coupons all the time! It has withstood everything he has donetoit and it has been a year so far but has been up for about 17 months! I would really hope theat target takes your  crib back!

You're smart to look for a crib under $200.  I spend hundreds of dollars on a really nice crib for my first daughter.  It survived through her, but with my 2nd daugher, not so much.  When she was 6 months old, she broke one of the slats with her foot - she kicked it in!  So I went and bought a cheapie replacement crib and the "bulldozer" couldn't get throught that one!  It's still in one piece.  That's the last time I spend a ton of money on a fancy crib when the cheaper ones are actually stronger!

Let us know how it goes. I have a feeling Target won't take it back since your pet damaged it.. Ugh, craftsmanship just isn't what it used to be. Good luck!

I found this one at BRU that I might think about:

https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3256053&fromRegistryNumber=65016373&product_skn=147857

Now I'm worried that whatever we get is going to get clawed up (accidently). Does anyone have a Da Vinci crib and like it?

The slats seem really wobbly, too. I HOPE Target will take it back but I doubt that they will. Hopefully!!! I'm about to take a shower and then I'll try to start taking the crib apart. We haven't even had the thing set up for a month.

Oh man!! How awful! I bought mine from target...but spent $260 on it. It's the Winsor 4-in-1 crib and I bought the last one in the area in the store and now you can only get them online and pay TOO MUCH for shipping. I haven't noticed any huge gashes as of yet! I think it's pine. So it should last through a couple of more kids! I'm not sure what else they have that's really durable.

I really hope you find one that's really durable! I would be bummed as well. If the cat can do that, I'm sure the baby would be able to beat up as well. Thankfully Jeremiah isn't a biter..lol...my little sister put some nice scratches and dents in her crib from biting.

No, it's the Delta Summit crib. I'm so bummed... and so angry!

If our cat can do this to the wood then what is to say that the baby won't bang huge gashes and dents into the wood, too?!

Oh bummer! I got my crib from target also. I thought it was the best price other than going online and I didn't want to pick something out I couldn't look at first. I got the one with the attached changing table what about you?
