What was your delivery/c section experience? Anyone throw up or had nausea during the whole labor process?

I dont want to get sick and when i read about the epidural, oxycotin and c-section. they all list nausea and vommiting. so i was wondering if most of the time you do get sick at one point. Who hasnt gotten sick? Oh, im 35 weeks pregnant.

I am a light weight when it comes to drugs. So when I got my drugs during each of my vaginal deliveries I did throw up. I think I threw up once with DD#1. I threw up FIVE times with DD#2 (I hadn't eaten for an entire day so I think that was also why). It was only after I had her, when I was feeling so sick I couldn't hold her, that they FINALLY gave me anti-nausea medication that instantaneously made me feel better.

Why didn't they give that to me in labor?! I have no idea but I'm definitely asking for it if I feel sick again when in labor! Being in pain with a huge, contracting belly in the way and puking in those tiny bedpans? It just isn't right.

I had two c-sections, and I got very nauseated during both surgeries-  and I itched for 2 days after the second one-  reaction to the meds-  but your anesthesiologist will be sitting right beside your head the ENTIRE time...  both c-sections, he was more important to ME then my OB doc who was doing the delivery-  your OB will be focused on the delivery, and the baby, and your anesthesiologist will be focused entirely on you...  as soon as you start to feel nauseous, he'll know,  but you can tell him to and right away he'll put something in your IV to relieve it, and it goes away quickly! You will be fine!

I had an epidural that didn't work and never had any nausea.  I think everyone's birth experience is different so even if we tell you our stories, you will have your own.  Trust me, when it's time to give birth, you won't be thinking about anything but getting the baby out.

I have had an epidural w/ 3 out of my 5 kids.  I did throw up once, but I only threw up the one time and it was after the baby was born.  I didn't throw up while I was in labor though.  It does make you itch as others have said, but they will give you Benadryl in your IV after the baby is born if you need it.  I needed it!!

i threw up in all my labours and believe me, it didn't bother me one little bit. i was rather preoccupied with the pain i was in. 2 of the labours i had an epidural and one i didn't, or oxytocin or a c sec, but i still threw up.

With Anika, I was in labour 23 hours.  I too had the epidural but not until 12 hours in.  It only lasted 4 hours for me.  I had the epidural at 7pm and by 11pm it was gone.  The only time I got sick was when the nurse put the gas mask on my face to inhale during a contraction (this after I told her I didn't want it because I knew I would vomit).  Moments later I vomited and was very angry with the nurse.  I too pushed for 3 hours and in every position imaginable.  Vacuum was used and so were forceps.  She didn't want to come out.  I was sweating like mad as my temp and BP sky rocketed.  I was moments away from an emerg c-section.  Thankfully, the forceps worked.  She was 8lb 14oz.  Hopefully, labour will be easier this time around but am not going to get my hopes up.

Here is my whole story if want to read it but YES I did get very sick while in labor.
I had a vaginal birth with Noah and I was in labor for 51 hours. Once my water broke it was still another 26 hours before he was born. My water broke on it's own at about noon and a few hours later they realized that I either had another water bag or that mine had resealed itself so they had to pop it. I wasn't progressing so they hooked me up to pitocin. I then decided to have the epidural around 6 pm. I still wasn't progressing, finally around 9 am I told the nurse that I felt like I needed to push so she checked me and sure enough I was fully dialated. I had been pushing for an hour and nothing was happening so the nurse wanted me to move around and try to go on all fours to try and push. Keep in mind I had been hooked up to an epidural since 6pm so I had no feeling in my legs, my mom, Joe and sister all had to help the nurse hold me up, this obviously didn't work, I almost fell off the bed. Then they hooked a bar up to the bed for me to hold onto while in a squatting position, this worked pretty good for a while. I started throwing up about 2 hours into pushing, mainly because of the epidural and not eating for a day and a half. After two hours of pushing my contractions stopped so I was doing all the work on my own. They kept telling me one more push and the baby will be here, this went on for a half hour, Noah's head kept going back in, finally my OB cut me, Noah's head still wouldn't come out, she cut me again, deeper this time. Finally, after 3 hours of pushing Noah came out, I was so relieved I just started crying, it was finally over! After all of that I was expecting a huge baby with a giant head, he was only 7lbs 7oz, I sure hope this baby isn't any bigger or else I may not be able to get him out. Even after all of the pushing and my contractions stopping I still wouldn't change it, I am so glad I didn't need to have a c-section.

I got real sick but this was because I was in labor for 31 hours it is a long story, but I did have to have a c-section due to my son weighing 9 pounds and 7 ounces I tried to have him vaginally and I pushed for 2 hours but he was just way to big. I was on pain medicine and I did not like the way it made me feel so I quit taking them after 3 pills and just took the pain pretty much.

I had a C-section, and I got terrible nausea during the surgery.  They gave me some drugs in my IV to help it, and then the baby was out so I completely forgot about it.  I was too busy watching him!!!

I never got morning sickness, EVER, and I am pregnant with #4.  I did throw up during at least one of my labors, I think my first.  But just once, and it wasn't so bad (compared to everything else that was going on . =)
