When the Baby "Drops"

I'm planning on working as long as I can but I noticed that baby has for sure dropped in the last 2 days.   how long after baby drops do you normally start labour?  I haven't had any braxton hicks or if I have I haven't noticed.  SO I'm afraid that I won't really realize it until its too late.    It's my first and all of a sudden I just got nervous about all this stuff when I realized that he has really dropped.  Sad part is that he was super low to begin with.   Any advice you guys have for me would be great!  thanks!

Just because the baby drops doesn't mean you're gunna go into labor. My baby dropped weeks ago and I've been having regular BH contractions all day every day, and some are starting to get really intense and painful like labor contractions. It's normal at the end.

I am also a first time mom and dropped a few weeks ago. I'll be 38 weeks tomorrow. Yesterday at my appt the doctor told me I was already at a 3 and 70%. He doesn't think I'll make it to my due date and I'm beginning to think he's right. I've been cramping here and there and have been having BH contractions. I haven't had anything painful or consistent happen so we will see :)

Braxton hicks r jus practice contractions. U really dnt feel them. Ur belly will get really hard tho. Ull kno when ur in labor. Most docs say dnt go in til ur contractions r 5 minutes apart for at least an hr. I'm 35 wks wit my first n have been woken up about 6 times wit contractions.

It doesn't hurt... just noticed that he has dropped.  And I'm getting lovely hip checks more then I noticed before.  I did google it and it showed an average of 2 weeks before anything actually happens after you notice that.   We'll see Dr's appt again tomorrow so I can always ask him when i'm there.

It didn't happen to me but I've heard/read that for first-time moms, it can happen weeks before delivery. If you are feeling uncomfortable, a supportive band could help. I started wearing my bella band again near the end of my first pregnancy but for a little support. This time, I have a real support band due to a hernia but it helps with comfort too, just at 3x the price of the bella band!
