Not recommended. Buy non-alcoholic if you have to.
Everyone has very different opinions of this subject... i myself personally would not drink alcohol while pregnant. But there are some selfish people who would drink constantly if they got a chance to. If you really want a drink for your birthday try the non-alcohol drink. It taste very much like real alcohol but it dosent have any in it.
The straight answer is, no, one glass of wine (and it doesn't matter red or white, we're talking alcohol here, not other disputed health benefits of red vs white) won't affect you pregnancy. But the problem with that is two fold:
1. that gives women permission to drink one a night, and then two or three a night. People who are alcoholics are very good at rationalizing.
2. Motherhood is the most sacrificial relationship you will ever be in. You will do things that push you to your limits physically and emotionally if you are a good mother. The baby and then later the child and teenager come first, over anything you need, if you are a good mother. It's helpful to start practicing that attitude during pregnancy - certainly, the wine won't be GOOD for the baby. If it's difficult for you to deny yourself a glass of wine, there's no time like the present to start disciplining yourself to think first of the baby and then second of yourself.
This is a highly contested subject, the answer of which really depends on who you talk to. The reason being that the level of alcohol which causes fetal alcohol syndrome is unknown. And that level may change from person to person. Until the 50's and 60's pregnant women were "allowed" to drink in moderation and even encouraged to help them relax. In many European countries, a glass or two of wine a week during pregnancy is considered totally acceptable.
As for myself, I'm ok with pouring myself an occasional 4oz glass of red wine AFTER THE FIRST TRIMESTER and sipping from it. But I doubt I've ever finished even a 4oz glass while pregnant. I usually sip on it during dinner and then give the rest to my husband to finish. And both of my babies are completely healthy. :)
A Glass A Red Wine Is Fine
I've heard you can do one glass of red wine, but I would ask your doctor.
Not really recommended.
But one glass of wine isn't likely to do any harm.
