Working Moms

I was forced to tell my boss about my pregnancy because of morning sickness and now they cut my hours in half. 20 hours a week is what I'm getting. I can't live off that. It's my only source of income and the dad doesn't get paid a lot either. Have any other mommies been through this at their jobs? What did you do? I'm still doing the same tasks and not asking for special treatment but they claim my dependability has changed. Which it hasn't. I'm so upset over this. It's the worst possible timing.

I live in a right to work state and they can get away with it.  I only ever asked for Mondays off for appointments but I think the idea of maternity leave 6 months from now isn't working for them. They already hired two new people to cover the shifts I was working. I just don't know how getting a second job while 14 weeks will work out

Im in WI my mom worked for 18yrs in HR and that is illegal. Just like getting a job, they cannot deny you a job because you're pregnant, however there are a lot of loop holes...

I would contact your HR person. It's against the law for her to cut your hours. If your HR won't do anything about it tell them you are going to contact work force services and file a report against them.

I'm pretty sure that's against the law. They can't discriminate against you because your pregnant look up your state laws. I know for a fact its against the law in Florida.

If you haven't changed your availability then your dependability hasn't changed either my manager did that  I told her off and she changed it. The only day I constantly have off every week is tuesday because I can schedule all my appointments on thst day

They cannot desgriminate(sp) against you simply because you are pregnant. It is against the law
