Update: I spoke to my midwife today who fully explained everything in great detail about hpv, different strands and that no every strand is considered an std. But she checked my charts and said there is nothing I have to worry about bc I don't have it. So glad I switched to a midwife
I also have hpv showed it through a pap. But my dr told me that about 80% of ppl have it and for men there's no way to test unless warts are visible. And that its really nothing to worry about unless they take a sample and it is cancerous.
your doc needs to be aware of it! :) nothing to be ashamed of! :) I had all that done in my first tests
I have hpv as well. And I'm 15w5d. I had some treatments a year ago cuz they saw little bumps down there but said it was nothing to worry about and tht it wouldn't hurt me and it would eventually go away. Well there aren't any "physical" signs of it but when I had my 1st ob appointment I had an abnormal pap. She said it was the hpv thing. So she took a sample of my cervix about 2 weeks ago. She said she wouldn't do a biopsy because I'm pregnant but its still scary that they had to do testing. Your doc should've tested you by now and I guess no news is good news right? Lol I was just wondering what kind of effects it could have on the baby... sorry this is so long. I'm glad I'm not the only one :)
No I didn't have to have one. I tested positive thru a paper smear. Warts showed up during pregnancy. Its a pain but normal for their to show when immune is weakend. Just had my first removal treatment today..
Hopefully they give u a pap test soon, i cant believe they are just taking blood. My usually gives me a pap at my second appointment after i finish all the long long paper work and questions. I wish you the best.
They usually test the first or 2nd visit. But it shouldn't effect your pregnancy or birth. I have it, I got diagnosed with HPV when I was 17 and pregnant with my first. But almost 4 babies later no complications for the HPV and I have had vag births
@searra same here. I always had abnormal paps and have had cysts on my ovaries and Ive never had a colonoscopy either.
But like i said so far Ive had 16 viles of blood drawn, and i always have to do the pee test when i do go to an appt.
Yes I have had over 16 viles of blood drawn. Both at the ob's and the er and all Ive been treated for was a bacterial infection and uti
Thanks i didnt ask many questions at the doc i was scared when my came up abnormal. So i just cried and wanted to leave fast.
@searea I'm not sure about tattoomommy case but I have hpv as well. I've never had warts and mine has showed on Pap smear several times. I was first diagnose at 15 when I was pregnant with my first. I've had tissue samples taken as mine has caused pre-cancerous cells on my cervix.
When i got prego with my last my doc told me my pap came up abnormal but he never said why but sent me to get a coloscopy to test for hpv, turned out i had a cervical cyst instead. But they took 5 samples before i got ruled out.
Tattomommy did u have to get a coloscopy? I thought that the only way to determine hpv was with a coloscopy cuz from what i heard that doesnt show up by a pap test unless warts are present?? Im just curious.
Have you done your bloodwork? Cuz thats what thats for.... and the urine test...
I have hpv. I found out with my last pregnancy that I lost in July. I have warts now. But they should have done it there first visit. Ask your doctor for test.
thanks everyone. I think im gonna call the nurse tomorrow and just bring it up. I gotta get a prescription for more prenatals anyways.
I got tested on my first appt. Had to pee In a cup (for Uti and such) as well as gettin' blood drawn. Also, had a Pelvic Exam done and got swabbed. Found out results the next appt. or they would call/tell you sooner If you have any. Least that's how It's done here.
I k ow for me at my first appointment they asked me if I've ever had and std's. they also did a pap and screening for std's as well.
They should have been tested u for stds
The first time i went to drs i had bloodtests done, might be different where you live
