animals and pregnant

So I've basically been forced by my family and husband to leave my cat with my parents until my baby is a few months. It's because of the bacteria that they can get in their feces. But she has been an indoor cat all her life have get shots and I have wearing gloves and mask when I scoop her  litter box. And that isn't good enough. I'm not sure until January 15 then they want me to wait until after that!! I'm 6 hours away and I'm dreading it. 1. Because I love love love her so much 2. Because my mom tells at anything she does 3. Because since I was little we have never been able to have an animal more than 3 years because we are collectively bad with them. I am so I'm love with her and I'm crying my eyes out hysterically at the thought of leaving her :-(. Pls comforting words from you ladies pls

He puts your cat in a cage? I wouldn't stand for that!  If it's an indoor cat that's up to date with shots you have nothing to worry about. my MIL thinks I need to get rid of my animals too n I told her my animals are my kids, just because I'm having a human baby does not mean my animal babies are going anywhere! No way.

Thank you ladies for your comments! I'm sure she doesn't have the disease, however me and my husband live in a small 1 bed 1 bath apt and we won't move until we get closer to having the baby and he refuses to clean the litter box and also has me put her in the cage whenever we cook or eat. I don't locking her up so much. I just kinda feel out numbered with my family and my husband. He says we can visit her, but I just want my kitty!!!

No reason to get rid of the cat.  Poor kitty! Have your hubby clean it.

There is absolutely no reason for your cat not to be around the baby. You can actually be causing damage by taking the cat away from the baby, for their relationship. It can cause the cat to resent the baby because it'll be gone, come back and someone whose new and little is there . I have a soon to be 4 year old, and a 9 month old, and am pregnant again. Both my boys were raised with 3 cats and now 2 dogs. I have never had a problem.

I think you should put your foot d own.

You could get a self cleaning litter box and continue using gloves and mask

My sister kept both of her cats when her babies were born. I've heard That cats have the disease if they are outside cats and eat mice and birds.. If they are indoor cats usually they don't have the disease.  You can take them to a vet to make sure though.  Keep the litter box downstairs or away from the baby. You can always get someone else to clean the litter box too. If you have to clean it yourself then just keep doing what your doing with the gloves and mask and wash your hands lots.  Hope this helps.  :)
