black friday shopping

i was just wondering who all plans on going shopping. i know that this can be extremely dangerous especially while being pregnant! how long are you suppose to wait after delivering to go places and ect? is there a certain "down time" period? i know that if i do not deliver by then i will not be going and even if i do two days before i will not be going.

I'm 39 weeks and terrified. I'm in NC and here people have died at black friday events.... they do not care at all... most victims have been elders around their 50s & 60s so I know pregnant women are not an exemption.

Hmm people take their babies out at all different times, I've seen babies that are 2 days old at Walmart. I will not be going bc I think my baby is too young ( he is 3 weeks old today). But as a nurse I have seen sickly little babies and it is RSV season, and I really don't want a sick baby. I had my other kids when I was younger and dumber an I took them out early and my littlest one got croup and had to be in the hospital. Lots of babies go out early and do not get sick however, most probably don't.

When I had vaginal births I was able to walk fine the day I had them, I had very quick uncomplicated deliveries with those children so some people may need more recovery time.

I'm in California also and know first hand the craziness Black Friday brings, people are silly. I went last year and the sales were not that great, and this year I think some are actually starting in thanksgiving rather then on Friday.

I hate crowds and have no patience for mass amounts of people so I probably wouldn't go anyways :)

Not last year but the year before that I went it was my birthday on Black Friday I was turning 20 and wanted to buy myself a flat screen tv that Walmart had on sale for 198 for a 32 inch. I ended up getting there at 8 pm and stood in line till 5 am in the time I waited I got pushed to the ground stepped on and people were screaming and yelling I don't think I'll ever go again I'm 36 weeks pregnant and don't want to even risk going people in this area are nuts!!!

I went last year when I was 37 weeks. It was crazy and I got bumped into a few times. I also live in California, Anaheim area at the time. We were out shopping from 9pm thanksgiving night till 8 am and then went back out around 3 pm to see what was left. Then later that night I started having pains went to l&d and was 2cm! I was then admitted and scheduled for c-section in the am.

Black Friday refers to the stores going into the Black before the end of the year. I will unfortunately be participating because I work in retail. It's ,y first year working it and I do not want to. The plan originally was for my to quit before now but we need the money.

I think it's also about how you are as a person, I think most people put themselves into dangerous situations, I'll be in no way battling people to get in doors, battling over a toy, tv, anything. I won't be pushing through people or annoying people that are clearly "in the black friday zone" I guess I'd call it, haha.

I may go out if its a great deal but really nothing I can't wait a day for. I had a vaginal delivery with no pain meds with my first and I went out 2 days after she was born cuz it was right before Xmas. Everyone is different my pain was very tolerable and I kept her hidden/covered in the stroller

What!! That is so ridiculous, I have never had any issues, to my knowledge there haven't even been fights around here over anything. I live in a very small town in upstate NY, so I have no issues with overcrowding or trampling, haha! I also never do electronics or wait in lines, that's crazy. I'm glad I can go safely, but I'll be taking my 6'1 husband anyway, we go every year, haha!

Ohh it gets REALLY outta hand here!! (CA) People even place ads and offer to be black Friday shoppers for $ "6ft 2' 257 pounds, will wait in lines rain or shine up to 3 days before to get you the deals you want..." Lol, I've never seen anything else like it!! Having said that, Im not going out, unless its for sheer amusement to watch the moms fight in the Toys R Us parking lot at 4am! There's always cyber Monday where you can get just as good of deals!! BE SAFE!!

It's crazy to me that people actually get out of hand and fight over things, and people!! Here it's just like any other day, only with more people in the store walking faster, haha. I actually asked my doctor and he said oh yeah that's no problem at all, he was more worried about me not sleeping than getting hurt. Is it really that bad in other places?

Black friday is the day after thanksgiving. Most stores have a HUGE sale in preparation for christmas. They open the doors at a certain time and its first come first serve. Normally there is at least one person every year who is trampled over and dies because of a new tv or game system or something of the sort.

Oh and with a vaginal delivery- walking still hurts! You will feel as if your insides are going to fall out i would give myself at least a week for vaginal delivery and longer for csection!

I will not be going! I never have, but being trampled over for a new tv isnt worth it to me. I would personally rather just wait and get it at a later time when my life IS NOT at risk.

Well, I read somewhere that you aren't suppose to take baby out until I think 2 weeks after they are born, especially where there are a lot of people because the baby's immune system is very weak and the baby could get sick.  For yourself (don't know if you were talking about taking baby or not) I am not sure if there down time, I would rest for at least a week.. maybe less if you feel okay.  C-sections would really be the thing to worry about because you get SO sore.

I'm 30 weeks 6 days and I'm going, I guess it's just where I live that people aren't INSANE about it, I've never had an issue with people plowing other people or anything, but I live in a smaller town. I plan on blocking my stomach with the cart, on the off chance someone does bump into me. They also have belly bumpers for crowded places while pregnant, (if you still are, hopefully not!). Depending on when you deliver and how you deliver, I'd wait to see how you feel, only you know if you're up to it. If it's a c-section, and you even deliver today, I wouldn't do it, it's something that requires quite a bit of down time, vaginally I can't say because I've never done it, haha!
