Have lots of patience, make sure you know how to get in touch with a lactation specialist (most WIC offices and hospitals have one on staff, or can refer you to one) and look up when babies go through growth spurts because i know I felt like I wasn't making enough milk, but then found out they were just growing. Good luck!
Find a support system that supports you and your decisions that you make for breastfeeding.
Drink lots of water.
It may hurt and it may not it depends on a lot of factors. If you do hurt you can use lanolin cream and you don't have to wipe it off before the baby eats or you can rub breastmilk on your nipples and let it dry.
A boppy pillow was amazing for me and I loved it.
I would look up a few different holds because you may need to try a few before you find out works for you two best.
Most ftms think that their baby might not be getting enough but usually they are. If there are enough dirty diapers and baby is thriving and not fussy after a feeding they are good. I could tell wih my daughter because at the beginning of the feeding she had a clenched fist but at the end her hand was open and you could easily move her arm.
What you pump out is not equivalent to how much baby is getting because a baby is so much more efficient than a pump and some women dont respond to pumps.
If a baby is getting teeth while your still feeding if they bite you its because they are just playing around because while actively feeding you shouldnt even feel their teeth (my daughter had 3 I believe).
That's A Good One. Also, At About Two Weeks After You Start To Nurse, Your NiPples Will Hurt So Badly. But It Will Pass And They Won't Hurt Again. Also, Don't Be Ashamed Of It Ever! If Your Baby Is Hungry,Feed It, No Matter Where You Are.
Just Don't Feel Discouraged If Baby Doesn't Latch Right away.
